It pains me to do this, but due to an extremely large customer base I am no longer accepting new clients at this time. I am a one-person operation and stretched thin as it is. My goal is to maintain my current customers to the high standards I’ve set, rather than spread myself too thin and risk losing everything. I’m sorry.

So . . . . . seems I’m doubly cursed here.

After recently returning from Florida, my family and I are under a full 14-day self-quarantine. Frustrating but no problem. Work is piling up and I’ll get to it once I’m through.

Now, government is shutting down all non-essential businesses until further notice, of which mine is “not essential”. Again, frustrating as my bank accounts (business and personal) are dipping very low. But again, I completely understand. And I have to, as there are fines that can be levied, both personal and business, that I simply can’t afford.

So, if you have a hot tub or know if someone who has one and are desperately needing it serviced or opened, DON’T CALL ME. I can’t afford the fines and don’t need to spread anything just in case. Soon this will all blow over and operations will resume.

For those of you with a hot tub (or know of someone with one), the cold snap we are going through is a critical time. Check on your tub once or twice a day during these temperatures just to make sure everything is okay.

If you don’t already have one, grab a mini heater (about $40 from Canadian Tire) to keep on hand if something goes wrong with your tub. If something goes wrong you can stick the heater into the pump area at a medium (60%) setting and it will help keep things warm until someone can work on it.

Truth be told, it is twice as difficult to work on a hot tub during these cold temperatures as water freezes faster than the repair can be done. A mini heater will keep things warm and save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

Five years ago today, I entered into a small business program and began an endeavour to create a better career for myself and a better life for my family. Filled with both hope and fear I set out on my quest, armed with the tools of the trade, a branded truck and all of the work experience that I had gained from decades on my own.
Five years later, 300+ clients who advertise FOR me, competitors who give out MY phone number, and a well deserved new truck, I pleased to say I am happy with my choice. Some days are great, other days I want to chuck all my gear into the lake! Some days I'm sitting on a dock eating lunch in the sun, other days I'm freezing tools to my fingers in -30C weather. But it's all good!
Don't know how long these old bones will be able to crawl under decks, but I'll keep doing it until I fall. Muskoka is my office! Life is Good!

Always wanted to do this, now it's done! I've successfully changed my first pump seal BLINDFOLDED!! The video is a little long (20 minutes), but pretty darn good for not being able to see what I'm doing! Enjoy!

This saying rings true on so many levels! I don't have the cheapest rates, nor are they the most expensive. But they are great value for the amazing service I provide. And trust me - I've seen some pretty botched up "repairs" that cost twice as much to finally get set right.

After recently rescuing the 6th frozen tub of the season, I can't stress enough the importance of checking your hot tub daily for normal operation. If it's colder than -15 degrees, check it twice a day.
And if you want some added protection, pick up a micro heater. They are small and can fit into most pump areas to help keep lines from freezing. Well worth the investment!

Remember - we are entering some of the best time for enjoying your hot tub. But please take care. During the winter you should be checking that your hot tub is running and heating properly every day. If it's colder than -15 degrees, then check it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. This will allow someone like myself to react that much quicker if there turns out to be an issue. Could be the difference between a simple repair or a multi-thousand dollar plumbing overhaul. Be smart, be proactive.
