Can you really produce hydrogen using a metallic alloy and water? 💧
That's exactly what HPQ Silicon's French partner, Novacium, is working to achieve with METAGENE™, its autonomous hydrogen generation technology.
Instead of relying on conventional hydrogen delivery infrastructure, METAGENE™ is designed to produce hydrogen directly where it's needed.
Here's how it works:
✔️ Step 1: Transport and store a specially developed silicon-aluminium alloy.
✔️ Step 2: Introduce water to initiate the hydrogen-producing chemical reaction.
✔️ Step 3: Generate hydrogen on-site for potential use in energy and industrial applications.
The technology is also being developed to work with different water sources, including freshwater, seawater, and greywater.
The potential advantage?
Simpler hydrogen logistics, greater flexibility in remote locations, and reduced dependence on conventional hydrogen storage and transportation infrastructure.
Through our partnership with Novacium, HPQ is helping advance this technology toward future commercial applications.
