As we head into June, our local farmers are pulling long hours.
Over the next few weeks, you might occasionally see one of our members responding to the station, or pulling up near a scene, in a large farm tractor still hooked up to a seeder or a spreader. (as shown on Friday)

Our volunteers are your neighbours. When an emergency happens, there isn't time to drive back to the yard, unhook a massive piece of machinery, pack up, and switch to a personal truck. Minutes matter.

Sorry for the confusion today to the customers that kept leaving today before I got out of the shop, and you're gone by time, I got out.

It was brought to my attention that sign is being misread and people were thinking I was closed today when they got on the pad.

I will be closed next weekend. I am open today

FOREST FIRE UPDATE – NORTH RIVER, COLCHESTER COUNTY
May 25, 2026 – 0400 hrs

Emergency crews are continuing to monitor an active forest fire on Penny’s Mountain near North River. Officials have confirmed this is a separate fire from yesterday’s incident, although it is burning in the same general area. There are currently no homes threatened.

At approximately 0400 hrs, North River Fire Brigade received reports of a flare-up in the wooded area. Due to the significant safety risks associated with nighttime operations in rough terrain, firefighters will not enter the woods until first daylight. Crews are remaining on scene overnight to monitor fire activity and prepare for daylight operations.

Additional resources have been requested to assist with the response. Bible Hill Fire Department will be deploying its drone unit for aerial monitoring, Valley Kemptown Fire to the scene and Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade is responding with their off-road side-by-side vehicle to help crews access the remote terrain.

Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources has also been requested with additional hose and helicopter support.

The fire remains active at this time. Residents are asked to stay clear of the area and allow emergency crews room to operate safely.
