After 3 months of not driving because of a broken right foot I am finally here and getting ready to open a month late. First guest of 2024 arrives tomorrow. Still lots to do but the foot is hurting. I have to power on and get it done. Here is hoping for better months ahead than the last 3.

Replaced the stair treads on the stairs to the beach because the slope to the beach is a message after the work on the water line. Wanted to replace everything but there was just not enough time to take apart the stair my Dad built. He is well known for overkill on fasteners and design.

The line to the lake somehow sprung a leak and all the water drained out of the system. First I thought it was an easy fix so the plumber came out, but it wasn't. Hired a scuba diver to find the line. Plumber came back replaced the valve at the end of the line. Tried to prime the line. Nope still didn't work. Lost out on one 6 day stay. Plumbers came back and put in a temporary line for the next guests. After they left there was 5 days to fix it. It took 1.5 days with 2 excavators about 4 plumbers, 2 electricians but it was fixed. Have not received the bill yet but I am sure it is not going to be cheap!

I had co-workers/friends visiting from Indonesia stay with me at the bungalow and they each left me a note in the guest book while I wasn't looking. So glad they liked it here so much.

Yesterday, when I woke up and looked out the window the fog was hanging over the perfectly flat lake. I just had to get out in the kayak and take some pictures. When I finally came back to the reality that I had to get to work and came ashore, I saw the chairs on the dock and had to take one more picture. I am so lucky to have this place and look forward to living here full time in the future. In the meantime I like to share it with as many people as I can through short term rentals.

With bookings slowly being cancelled one by one, the reality of this summer being a write off is becoming clearer. I have decided to block out 4 to 5 days between each booking to allow the virus to die on any surface that might not get wiped clean. There are so many places a person could touch we can't possibly know that got them all. I will remove all things not necessary, which means all the extras I like to provide my guests have to go. There are 2 bookings left, one in June and one in August. I pray this is over soon so life can be back to something closer to normal soon.
