As we move into spring, gravel roads often get rougher before they get better. This happens because the top layer of the road has thawed, while the ground underneath remains frozen.
Water from snowmelt and rain cannot drain through the frozen base, leaving the surface soft and muddy. Grading too early can break the frozen layer below, causing equipment to sink and making road conditions worse.
What weโre doing:
๐ Roads are monitored daily for safety
๐ Urgent issues receive targeted spot repairs where conditions allow
๐ Full grading will begin once the ground has fully thawed and gravel can properly compact
