Following the recent heavy rainfall across the Niagara Region, DKI - Miller has received an overwhelming number of calls from homeowners dealing with flooding and storm-related property damage.
Our teams are responding, working through active claims and doing everything we can to reach those affected as quickly and safely as possible. Due to the volume of calls, we have temporarily reached capacity for new claim intake.
For those currently waiting for assistance, there are a few things you can do to help protect yourself and your property:
• Put safety first. Stay away from standing water if there is any possibility it has come into contact with electrical systems, sewage or other contaminants.
• Document the damage. Take photos and videos of affected areas and belongings when it is safe to do so. Keep records of damaged items and contact your insurance provider as soon as possible.
• Prevent further damage where safely possible. Move unaffected belongings away from wet areas and stop the source of incoming water if it can be done safely. Avoid removing contaminated materials or attempting major cleanup until you have received appropriate guidance.
