Unethical practice by Insurance companies.

We have come across yet another Insurance company (Im not going to name them because they all seam to do it) that is telling our Body Shop customers that they “Have” to use their “Approved” body shop for repairs. This is a total lie and they even use scare tactics like “The small body shops dont have the same warranty as the ones they are suggesting” which is a blatant lie to try to get our customers to use the bigger body shops to get the work done. I have reported several Insurance companies to the regulator for this unethical practice and will continue to do so until something is done about this. Not only do they make it difficult for our customers to use us, they also make us jump through hoops to get paid off them for jobs we have already done. They are very quick to take money off us for our premiums but use every delay tactic in the books to stall our payments .

The bigger body shops charge a lot more than us small local shops and I understand to a certain extent that they have bigger over heads than us. However, if insurance companies would work with local body shops instead of working against them, then maybe our insurance premiums would not be as high as we actually save them money !

Let me be clear, Insurance companies CAN NOT tell you where you need to take your vehicle for repairs. It is YOUR vehicle and ultimately YOUR decision NOT the Insurance companies. But be warned , they will use scare mongering to try to get you to use whoever they suggest . Just stick to your guns if you are happy using another body shop.
