Work cohesively with the Facility Manager and Storage Team to support the customers, maintain the facility and contribute to business growth and sales.
Status of Employee: 1 year contract position with potential for renewal based on job performance.
Wage $18.00/ hour
Education: Minimum High School or GED
Experience: Previous customer service and/ or storage facility experience an asset; Forklift driving experience an asset.
Language: Fluent English (verbal and written); additional languages an asset
Software: UHaul WebSelfStorage Software; Intermediate PC computer skills; Internet & Excel fluency; and 60 WPM typing speed
Training Schedule: Tuesday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm (for 2 weeks starting July 2)
Work Schedule: (30 Hours Regular) Thursday – Friday 10am – 6pm; Saturday – Sunday 9am – 5pm
Location: Mitchell Island, Richmond
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Physically capable of lifting heavy items (up to 50lbs) and performing locker move-ins
- Must wear company uniform
- Criminal record check for successful applicant
Core Responsibilities:
1) Run day to day operational tasks (~10%): Open the facility (gates and office); Review alarm/ video surveillance as needed; Clean vacated lockers; Maintain storage buildings, office and washroom; End of day lock up.
2) Assist on-site customers & external clients as needed (~40%): Processing payments; Selling moving supplies; Printing/ emailing documents; Managing rentals & wait-lists; Granting authorized building access; Performing move-ins and move-outs; Heavy lifting required (moving customers items into lockers as a valet service).
3) Answer the phone in a prompt, polite, professional and helpful manner while tactfully encouraging rentals and promoting sales (~20%).
4) Provide email support to customers and answer quote requests from the website that demonstrate extensive knowledge and accurate account management (~20%).
5) Organize and maintain company records, reports & wait lists and communicate relevant information daily to stakeholder (~10%).
Skills and Abilities:

- Willingness to perform a wide range of tasks (from janitorial to sales).
- Physically fit and without injury to lift boxes/ assist customers.
- Strong computer skills (PC), CRM experience and technical capacity for troubleshooting.
