Tips about bat houses:

- Contrary to popular belief, putting up a bat house on your property will not make the bats leave your house to use this one.

- Bat houses should be mounted on a post without any branches around it, 12 feet off the ground.

- Bat houses should also be facing South when mounted, to get the most possible amount of sunlight during the day (bats love warmth!)

Signs of Bats

Guano Staining - If bats have been in a structure long enough, their urine and guano can accumulate and seep through the soffit, causing staining on brick and siding like in the picture above.

Holes Where Roofs Meet - Typically, when shingles or soffits are being installed, gaps are left behind where they meet. These gaps are plenty big enough for bats to get into, and sometimes even birds and squirrels!

J-Channel to brick Gap - Whenever a j-channel is installed on an uneven brick, a small gap is left behind. Although they are small, they are still the perfect size for a bat to fit through.
