Coats for Dufferin
Barth's Cleaning Centre is proud once again to help these ladies clean the coats collected by them to pass on to those that need help to keep warm this winter. Over 1000 coats were donated by a very generous Dufferin County community and cleaned here at Barth's at no cost to them. We received the following email from Coats for Dufferin.
"Thank you again for all that you do to help us provide clean coats to our community. Here is the photo we took today with Jessica Menard (left) and Sarah DeBoer (right).
Coats for Dufferin was created with one simple goal, to keep our neighbours warm. What started as a small community effort has grown into a county-wide initiative collecting and distributing winter coats, snowpants, hats, mittens, gloves, and cold weather gear to those who need it most. The donations stay right here in Dufferin County, supporting families, students, schools, shelters and community organizations until they are full, then any leftover items get divided to our neighbouring schools and community programs.
Coats for Dufferin believes in helping with dignity and care. There is no lengthy process or barriers, just neighbours helping neighbours. Warmth shouldn’t be hard to access, and no one should face a Canadian winter without it.
Thanks to local businesses and community supporters, Coats for Dufferin has collected 1000+ clean coats for our community (including 15 schools and 4 shelters) and is now able to offer pop-up shop style distribution, giving community members a welcoming space to browse and take what they need at no cost.
The heart of Coats for Dufferin is community, kindness, and connection. Each year, Dufferin County proves that when we look out for one another, no challenge feels quite so heavy, and no winter quite so cold.
