Don’t forget, we drink ancient water. All the water we use and consume is millions of years old, and is recycled through natural processes. If we don’t manage the wastewater we create in a responsible way we contaminate ground water, drilled wells, and potentially our aquifers. Once an aquifer is contaminated it cannot be remediated.

Septic system are our specialty! When comparing estimates be sure to get the details from your contractor. Not all septic fields are the same. In-fact the type and size of the system will depend on your site soil conditions, slope, normal ground water levels, coarse aggregates, depth to impermeable layer, and % of clay content. The only way to accurately determine this is by digging soil test pits in the setback area around the proposed location. Auger bore hole test are still an accepted method but not at all accurate in telling you the detail of the soil conditions, only clay content %. For a septic system to last it’s expected life span and effectively treat effluent before re-introducing it to native soil these soil conditions must be identified. As a home owner you may take comfort in a permit being pulled but rarely does the regional inspector come out for inspection and many do not have the required on-site waste water installer training which means someone without the required knowledge may be inspecting your install. Protect your investement and do your homework!
