Some repairs aren't fancy, but they will do the trick......this really cool vintage wool coat had been well worn and loved, and the original collar and buttonhole facings were deteriorated badly. Since the repairs needed are on the inside of the coat, the aesthetics weren't the top priority, the functionality was. I used a scrap of bamboo French terry from my personal stash for these repairs because it was the perfect color, it is very soft, and it doesn't fray. I simply sewed it over the old pieces and trimmed it off (I didn't want to risk further damaging the wool by trying to remove the teeny tiny old stitching, plus the chance of weakening the seams, and then get lost in a whole reconstruction project lol). The buttonholes just needed that little bit of strength behind them to keep their structural integrity and function.

I get to see the COOLEST stuff.....my client found these vintage pants (one of a kind, I'm sure) at Talbots Throwbacks downtown and I absolutely marveled at the construction and seams for wayyyyy too long because I totally nerd out on stuff like that lol. They were made from alternating pieces of denim and corduroy fabrics. Soooooo interesting!

I give my new upright steamer one enthusiastic and steam-burnt thumbs up!! ๐Ÿ‘

Oops!! I haven't used one like this before and I got like, *really* into it today..... and not so much my own personal safety (this is why I have to work alone, I get into enough trouble lol). Happy I finally splurged on this addition to my work space. Goodbye to the temperamental handheld spit machine lol. Sometimes it's the little things โœจ๏ธ

Sometimes we buy, own already, or are gifted a piece of clothing that isn't quite right. We can't return it, or maybe we like it enough that we want to alter it somehow, to make it fit better. Is it worth paying to try to make it work for you?

It costs nothing to make an appointment with me and discuss what that would entail in terms of labour, time and my charges for those services. All I ask is that you show up for your scheduled appointment ๐Ÿ˜Š

If an item hangs in your closet indefinitely because you don't like how it fits, will you ever wear it or is it worth trying to alter? That is for you to decide, I am just your fashion bestie. I look at people in their clothing all day and assess why it does or doesn't fit and how I can or cannot make it fit better. I like to explain the how's and why's so that you leave with a better fitting garment, or at least an explanation of why a manufacturing defect made it hang funny, or the bodice of this dress was made wider than your shoulders. You can ask all the questions, get all the info and make an informed decision about whether or not your item is worth keeping or passing on!

Just taking a moment here to thank everyone for being so patient, kind and understanding this month!! June was a rollercoaster, and it's the busiest month for me in business typically so it was challenging! I ended up in the ER a couple of times, during prom and wedding season no less ๐Ÿ˜ฑ, and I did have to shuffle and reschedule a lot of clients. Absolutely (almost) every single client was totally understanding and able to come a different day and it actually made it so much easier. I'm just being very honest with everyone, my days are unpredictable and I'm doing my best! Luckily, I work from home so I can make accommodations - laying down in a dark room, ice pack, medication, and *rarely* have to cancel unless I am extremely unwell or headed for the hospital.
Thank you for your grace and kindness, and for giving me extra time to finish your your orders. This is still a new onset for me, so thanks for making it easier for me to figure out how to work around life with migraine ๐Ÿ™ƒ

That's a wrap on prom 2026!!
Finished the last dress last night around 8pm, and I can breathe a little bit now.....lots of bridesmaid dresses coming up on the racks, so it's a short rest, but I'm taking the rest of the week off to catch up on the regular stuff which has to take a back seat to prom!

How much fabric came off this prom dress? 1.8 pounds ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I had to weigh it because it was so heavy!
Hope you feel a little lighter as you twirl the night away โœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ’–

In between all the formal wear coming in for alterations, I'm still working on the everyday stuff as normal too.....like this pair of jeans that needed the waist taken in ๐Ÿ˜Š
I take it from each side so the difference is spread evenly and I don't have to take apart or redo the felled back seam. As a general rule for any pair of pants, if it's more than an inch and a half being taken in, always blend in into the sides instead of the back! If your pants are more than 4 inches too big in the waist it's time to go shopping for a better size! Taking in more than 4 inches in the waist will distort and disproportion the shape of the pant and I don't recommend it.
As always, this is just my method, and there are others ๐Ÿ˜Š

Here is a quick tip for your bridesmaid dress if you feel like the bust looks odd or misshapen.....I would day 90% of the time, these cups are sewn in the wrong spot for your particular shape, or they're too small or just the wrong shape! This is an easy and important fix, and all you need is a seam ripper or even nail scissors with the sharp curved point will work. The cups are usually accessible between the inside linings if the waist seam isn't sewn all into one layer....all you need to do is unpack or snip the take at the points they are sewn in. I promise you, a better fitting bra or sticky cups, even some types of shapewear or body tape, will fit, look, and feel better than lumpy circles sewn 2 inches above your own anatomy lol!

Prom and wedding season is here. Turnaround time is approximately 3 weeks currently so plan accordingly!!
