BEWARE!
Many well-known house cleaning franchises will give you a pretty cheap quote, and you may accept it because the price is surprisingly good. However, don’t throw the other quotes away – you will look for them sooner than you think. A lower price means less cleaning time, and their cleaners will cut all possible corners in order to fit into the scheduled time. Most franchises use teams of 3 or 4 cleaners to clean even small 1500 sq.ft. houses, and if they waste 15 minutes on getting ready to work, carrying cleaning stuff around, or a break time, that’s another 1 hour of service that won’t be provided. As a result, the quality of cleaning will be far from what you expected.
When we hire people who worked for other cleaning companies, we hear shocking stories how they clean houses. A team of 4 cleaners clean 4-5 and sometimes up to 8 places a day!!!! I certainly don't want to be the 8th client. Can you imagine how poor quality of cleaning is? When our 2 cleaners clean a 3000 sq.ft. house in 3 hours (that's total 6 work hours of cleaning), the other companies spend around 1 hour there (4 cleaners)! And the company will probably charge you for 5 or 6 hours! What a rip off. We’ve lost count of the number of clients who switched to us from these companies due to extremely poor service and time issues.
Another popular type of the business now, especially in Toronto, is so called agencies. They try to look like normal well branded cleaning companies. They will usually give you an instant quote and let you book their cleaning services "in 60 seconds". The booking system is client friendly and convenient, agree. By the way, we tried it but it's currently on hold for a reason. You can still book our services right away, but we prefer to see your place (free estimate) and discuss all details so you know what to expect. Anyway, back to the agencies. Their cleaners are pretty much independent sub-contractors, not employees. If you read the fine prints, you will be surprised to find out that if anything happens (damage, poor quality, injuries, etc.) you will have to deal directly with the cleaner. Basically, all they do is simply connect you with private cleaners, and get the percentage of money that you pay for services. We don't do this. All our cleaners are our employees, properly trained, bonded, insured, and WSIB covered. We stand behind each cleaning, and if anything happens, we are here to resolve the issue.
