Leaf blowing day at the cottage! 🍂

We know Muskoka in the fall is all gorgeous colours… until it lands on your deck, your driveway, your path to the dock and absolutely everywhere else. 😅

Today we cleared it all. The deck is clear, the driveway is swept, the yard is raked and the path down to the water is ready for one last coffee on the dock.

And yes… our little fluffball "helped." We do the hard work, and he does quality control in the leaf piles. Every job needs a supervisor! 🐾

🏡 Muskoka STR Owners: Airbnb's checkout rules change November 20

Starting with bookings made on November 20, hosts can no longer ask guests to wash dishes, strip beds, start laundry, or haul garbage before checkout. Guests can still be asked to put dishes in the sink, gather towels, and sort recycling. Everything else is on you, and listings that don't follow the new rules risk lower search visibility and even losing Superhost status.

Here's the thing… this is what we've always done. 🙌

At Muskoka Lakes Cleaning Crew, guests were never meant to spend their last morning scrubbing pots and stripping beds. They're on holiday. They should be on the dock with a coffee, not wrestling a fitted sheet.

Now, if you're an STR owner just looking to cut corners and costs, this probably isn't the post for you. 😉

Behind the stove. 👀

We pulled the range out today and found what most of us never look at: grease splatter down the cabinet sides, drips running down the tile, and crumbs hiding in the corners.

Ten minutes of "out of sight, out of mind" turns into years of buildup. Now it's spotless, top to bottom.

If you're opening, closing or turning over a cottage or rental in Muskoka, this is the stuff guests (and buyers) notice when they don't know they're noticing.

The fridge looked clean. Then we pulled back the door gasket. 👆

This is one of those spots nobody checks: not guests, not owners, honestly not even most cleaners. But crumbs, spills and mildew love to hide in there, and it's right where your food goes in and out.

When I owned a cottage, I never once thought to look here. Now it's one of the first places we check on every turnover.

Clean you can see is easy. Clean you can't see is what we do.

I used to be that cottage owner. 🙋‍♀️

You know the one. Drive up Friday night, walk in, and realize the whole weekend is going to be spent cleaning. Sunday afternoon rolls around and you're packing the car having barely touched the lake.

I did that more times than I want to admit. And every time, I thought… someone should just take this off our plates.

So I did. 💛

Before Muskoka Lakes Cleaning Crew, I spent 20+ years in real estate: reception, deal secretary, executive assistant, office manager, client care. I spearheaded renovation projects on tight timelines, and when something needed doing to get it right, I rolled up my sleeves and did it myself.

One past client once said, "If I could clone Olivia and have multiple Olivias, we could take over the world." 😂 I've never forgotten it, and it's the standard I hold this business to.

A little more about me:
🐶 My dogs are my biggest fans (and my worst helpers)
🌿 I'm happiest with my hands in the garden
🥾 Give me a trail or a day on the water and I'm good
🧽 And yes, I genuinely love walking into a cottage that's been put back together perfectly

This drive is my favourite part of the road, especially this time of year. 🍁 The colours are unreal and the lake goes quiet. It's a good reminder that you need to slow down and enjoy the view once in a while. That's the whole point of having a place up here.

That's why we're busy helping families close up for the season, so they come back in spring to a fresh, clean cottage instead of a to-do list.

Thanksgiving weekend, behind the scenes 🍂

While most of Muskoka is getting the turkey ready, my crew and I are racing between cottages making sure every guest walks into a spotless, cozy place for the long weekend.

Honestly? This is my favourite weekend of the year to work. Fall colours on the drive, lakes like glass, and the best feeling when a family texts the owner "it's perfect."
