Well, I have made a tough decision, I am closing down the business.
I have been giving it a lot of thought for the past few months but hoping business would pick back up again, but it has only been in short periods occasionally and not enough to want to keep going.
There have been too many no shows, and way to many people giving me the "I will bring it to you in the spring" and I had the same last year of "bring it to you in the fall!" And 98% never followed through, and I don't expect any better in the spring. If all of these people followed through in the spring, I would need four of myself to keep up to it! And it doesn't help me now. The phone has literally only rang 3 times in past two weeks?
Unfortunately the bank does not accept that as currency for deposit to pay the bills.
I have been in Mount Forest for a year and half now, but still only getting a tiny amount of local support, which I appreciate, but still not enough. I know this stupid tariff bs has had some affect on business because people don't know if they will have a job tomorrow, so holding on to their money just incase, I understand that. However I know there is still enough work out there otherwise, its just coming my way.
So I have decided to close the business rather struggling through the winter in hopes of someone following through.
I will be finishing the last couple of jobs I have in the shop now, and may take on a couple of small jobs depending on the time frame, then take home whatever space I can make, then will be having a sell off of everything else.
I have a bunch of 2x4 cutoffs, and small pieces good for burning, tools (they not high end like snap-on) lots are brand new never used, some barely used, and a hand full of used that I will no longer need. And some free stuff And more..
I plan on being out of the shop before Christmas, so everything has to go!
I will be posting a list of stuff and some pictures later with additional updates.
I also have two Doves at the shop that will need re-homed. I cant take them home, because my wife has contracted a bad lung disease that is caused by the protein in the dander of birds, thats why I have them at them shop, I had to get them out of the house..
So if anyone knows of someone who would be interest, please have them contact me. Top two criteria to take them, is they must be allowed out each day for some fly time. They will go back in the cage on their own.
And it has to be a cat free home, with no intentions of getting one in the future. They are 8yrs old now, with a life span of up to 20yrs depending on their care. And I have had them since they were fledglings, so they grew up in our house with cats, and those cats came to us as weaned kittens, so grew up with birds in their environment. And they never went after the birds due to that. So the birds grew up not looking at the cats as a threat. Any other cat would likely attack them. They are a very low maintenance birds.
