Truth and Reconciliation begins with truth. On this day of commemoration, we honour residential school Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home. The first step toward reconciliation is to learn and acknowledge the history and lasting impacts of the residential school system and to listen to the stories that have too often been ignored or denied. We cannot reconcile what we refuse to remember. By facing the truth, honouring those affected, and committing to meaningful action, we can help build a future grounded in respect, understanding, and justice.
