The answer is FALSE! ❌

It feels completely counter intuitive because we think "more soap = cleaner clothes," but it actually does the exact opposite.

Here is the quick breakdown:

The Trap: When you use too much detergent, it creates way too many suds.

The Problem: Modern washing machines use less water. Those excess suds form a thick cushion that actually lifts clothes up so they don't rub against each other. That friction is exactly what scrubs the dirt out!

The Gross Part: Instead of rinsing away, the leftover soap film gets trapped in the fabric fibers, acting like a magnet that locks in dirt, body oils, and odors. It's also the number one cause of washing machines smelling musty over time.
