🐾💜 SAYING GOODBYE TO PART OF OUR GRUB HUB FAMILY 💜🐾

As summer winds down, we’re a little sad to say goodbye to so many of our summer staff as they head back to school, off to college, back to other countries, or on to whatever adventure comes next.

Thankfully, we still have enough of our crew sticking around to keep the MAK ’n JAK Grub Hub going—but we’re definitely going to miss those who have moved on!

We thought about naming everyone one by one... but they know who they are, and we figured we’d save them the embarrassment. 😂

To each and every one of you: THANK YOU! 💜

Thank you for being part of our very first summer in Elkwater. Thank you for the long days, crazy busy weekends, laughs, learning curves, dishes, pizzas, ice cream, customers, cleanups... and everything else that came with helping us get through Season #1!

We wish all of you GOOD LUCK in the months ahead with school, work, travel and whatever comes next.

And hey... if you’re looking for a summer job next year, you know where to find us! 😉🐾

Cypress also wants to send a very special Grub Hub Cub Goodbye! 🐾

He claims he personally trained every one of you.

We’re not entirely sure what he trained you to do... but apparently it involved stealing fries, licking plates and napping on the job. 😂

2026 was our very first season in Elkwater, and what an incredible season it has been! We’ve learned a lot, met some wonderful people, made plenty of memories and—most importantly—became part of this amazing Cypress Hills community.

📣 A QUICK NOTE ABOUT OUR GOOGLE HOURS! 📣

We’ve made a small change to our Google listing that we wanted to explain so nobody gets confused!

Our General Store is STILL OPEN UNTIL 9:00 PM on Fridays & Saturdays. 🛒

However, we’ve changed the closing time shown on Google to 8:00 PM because we were finding that quite a few folks were arriving after 8:00 PM expecting the Restaurant to still be open.

Unfortunately, Google doesn’t always make the difference between our Restaurant and General Store hours as clear as we’d like!

🍔 RESTAURANT HOURS
Thursday – Monday
🕛 12 Noon – 8:00 PM

🛒 GENERAL STORE HOURS
Friday & Saturday
🕘 Open 9:00AM until 9:00 PM
🕘 Thursday, Sunday & Monday 9am to 8pm
🕘 Tuesday & Wednesday - 9am to 7pm

So YES — if you need ice, snacks, drinks, groceries, camping necessities, ice cream or other goodies on a Friday or Saturday night, the Store is still here for you until 9!

The Restaurant kitchen and dining service close at 8:00 PM.

These hours will remain in effect through at least Labour Day Monday, September 7, 2026.

Thanks for helping us spread the word — and hopefully this little Google adjustment saves someone a trip expecting supper when Cypress and the Restaurant crew have already called it a day! 😂🐾

🐾 A BIG THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US AT MAK ’n JAK GRUB HUB! 🐾

As our first summer in Cypress Hills starts winding down, we’ve been thinking about just how incredible these past few months have been.

When we opened the doors to MAK ’n JAK Grub Hub this spring, we really didn’t know exactly what to expect. Since then, we’ve served thousands of meals, made a whole lot of pizzas, stocked countless camping essentials, scooped ice cream, sold more bags of ice than we ever imagined possible 😂, washed more loads of laundry than we could count — and met some absolutely wonderful people along the way.

We’ve learned a lot. We’ve made some mistakes. We’ve made changes. And we’re still learning every single day.

But one thing has remained constant:

The support we’ve received from our customers has been incredible. ❤️

Whether you joined us for dinner, grabbed lunch on the way to the lake, stopped for ice cream with the kids, picked up supplies at the General Store, used the Laundromat, ordered a pizza, or simply popped in to say hello to Cypress — THANK YOU.

And speaking of Cypress… 🐾

It's hard to believe we're already nearing the end of our very first summer season at the MAK 'n JAK Grub Hub! ❤️

When we opened our doors this spring, we hoped the Grub Hub would become a place for EVERYONE in Cypress Hills.

And wow... did you ever show us what that could mean!

🍔 Some of you joined us for lunch or supper.
🍕 Some grabbed a pizza after a long day at the lake.
🛒 Some stopped at the General Store for ice, snacks and camping supplies.
🥪 Some grabbed something quick on the way to your next adventure.
🍦 Some came specifically because someone said "ICE CREAM!" 😂
🧺 Some discovered that laundry is unfortunately still necessary while camping.
🚲 Some stopped in after biking or hiking the trails.
🏕️ Some were camping for the weekend.
🏡 Some live right here in the area.
🐾 And some of you just wanted to see what Cypress was getting himself into next!

And that's exactly what we hoped the Grub Hub would become.

Today is the Battle Creek Showdown Mountain Bike Race & Festival right here in beautiful Cypress Hills Provincial Park — Elkwater, AB!
