That is the inside of a duct above somebody’s kitchen. 👀 They were having their “system cleaned every 4 months”. The Canopy isn’t a kitchen exhaust system, it’s the only part you as a customer can see.

Every cleaning we do gets a service report. It records every area cleaned, anything that could not be reached, any deficiency graded minor through critical, whether access panels are needed, and the date your next cleaning is due. 📋

A certificate of cleaning is different. That one only goes out when the system has been cleaned back to bare metal. NFPA 96 compliant, numbered, dated and signed. ✅

If part of your system could not be cleaned, the report says so. That is the point of it.

Another kitchen exhaust deficiency identified at a McDonald’s 🇨🇦 location in Pickering.

The restaurant had been advised by their current cleaning provider that the ductwork was leaking. During our inspection, we found the likely source was actually an access panel installed on the side of the grease duct.

The design was interesting, but it did not appear to provide enough clamping pressure for a side-mounted application. With grease travelling down the duct and limited pressure holding the panel in place, leakage into the fire wrap was likely.

We would only consider using this style of panel on top of a duct, where gravity works with the design instead of against it.

Proper inspection and knowledge makes the difference.

During today’s site visit at a McDonald’s 🇨🇦 location in Etobicoke, we found out why their current service provider said the exhaust fans could not be opened for cleaning.

When their exhaust fans were replaced, the existing hinge kits were installed incorrectly on the new unit. The final setup was not properly checked, and the customer was not advised that the fans could no longer be opened for proper cleaning and service.

As an official McDonald’s vendor, Complete Kitchen Exhaust handles their kitchen exhaust-related deficiencies. We’ll add reinforced steel backing so the existing hinge kits can be mounted correctly, saving the customer the cost of replacing every kit.

We obviously don’t clean this location yet 😂

We’re hoping to change that. Proper cleaning and inspection make the difference.

Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning, Ceiling Cleaning & Cooking Equipment Restoration completed at The Snooty Fox 🦊.

Due to inaccessible ductwork, the entire exhaust system could not be cleaned. Heavy grease and carbon have built up over time, and the affected sections now require a full duct restoration. Much of the buildup must be scraped by hand before the ductwork can be restored to bare metal.

⚒️ Fire-rated access panels will be installed so the remaining ductwork can be properly restored and cleaned during the next service.

⚠️ This is why it’s so important to choose the right company, not simply the cheapest. Proper inspections, detailed reporting, and addressing accessibility issues early can help prevent costly restorations later.

While on-site to measure an exhaust fan for a wind band extension installation, we identified several additional deficiencies that could impact safety and reliability.

🔍 Deficiencies noted:
⚠️Exhaust fan electrical power switch box exposed to the elements.
⚠️Electrical housing/junction box unsecured and hanging loose.
⚠️Gas line support not providing adequate support for the gas piping.
