Polish vs Wax

In contrast to wax, a car polish is a product that uses an abrasive action to remove very fine layers of the top coat. This will flatten out the surface and ensure equal reflection of light giving you a highly polished look. Many polishes also contain gloss enhancing oils which further help to provide a deep shine to the paint. The polish will last several months where as wax will only last a couple washes.
