I always go to this glass cleaning method when there is a lot of markings on glass and mirrors!

Want to know of another method to clean glass without using Windex? Use dawn dish soap!

Here's what you'll do:
Grab 2 microfiber cloths, then wet one and wring it out so it's not soaking wet. Then you will take dawn dish soap and smother it all over the cloth using a generous amount. After that, wipe down the mirror or glass surface then take the dry cloth and use it to wipe the soap residue off the mirror, buffing it dry. This method should not leave any streaks as long as you dry the entire surface and leaves a nice shine to the surface you just cleaned!

Do you have any questions about cleaning or requests for a Tip Tuesday? Feel free to ask and I'll make sure I cover it one week!

How to deal with Pet hairs!

Want an easy way to get pet hair off carpets? There are a few methods!

First one is to put on a latex glove (the kind that I always wear to clean houses), and use your hand to push the hair off the surface. This usually works for small carpets without groves that the hair is just on the surface of. Works like a charm!

Second one would be to purchase a furminator brush meant for deshedding cats or dogs and going over the carpet with that, it even works on cat trees! Pulls the hairs right off!

Lastly would be to purchase a good quality vacuum cleaner that has a pet tool attachment. I highly recommend the Shark APEX Duoclean however if that is out of your budget, a vacuum advertised for pets can work well too!

Have any marble, granite or quartz surfaces in your home and looking to safely clean them? Best thing to use is either a tiny bit of dish soap and water or a cleaner meant for that type of surface. Always make sure to stay away from anything acidic like vinegar or anything with citrus such as Lysol and NEVER use bleach. It is also said to not use ammonia and hydrogen peroxide as well. Use a soft abrasive pad or a cloth and avoid heavy duty sponges and anything that can potentially scratch the surface.

For some marble surfaces it is recommended to use a sealer on it to help protect it from stains and damage. However, I am no expert and the best person to talk to about that is the retailer who you purchased your counters, floors, showers etc. from.

To prevent stains on marble, always make sure to blot up spills immediately and don't let them sit. Make good use of things such as cutting boards, trivets, coasters, rugs and trays to prevent scratches, stains and burn marks. With the right care, you can keep your beautiful marble surfaces looking brand new!

Not many people know this but dishwashers need to be cleaned once in a while as well! You would think that constantly using it would keep it clean but that is not the case. Start off by checking the filter and making sure there is nothing lodged in the way and rinse off all food debris that has managed to stick to it. To clean the filter all you need to do is run it under hot running water, no need for any other chemicals. Then you can purchase a dishwasher cleaner from Walmart or basically any place that sells dishwashing detergent. I typically use Finish as I like how it works. Follow the directions on the back of the bottle and voila! Your dishwasher should work a lot better than it did before. I typically do this once a month to keep my dishwasher working effectively.
If you are wondering what the dishwasher cleaner does, it helps remove any grease or debris left over by food residue and breaks down the build up of limescale which is usually caused by calcium in the water.

Find that your house gets dusty quite quickly? Other than debris from the outside and pets, what could be causing more dust to accumulate is your air filters, always check them and change them out periodically and you'll find that the dust does not come back as quick as it did before. I live in an apartment so I don't have air filters so to cut back on dust and allergens in the air, I have a bionaire air purifier in my room that not only helps with dust, but cleanses the air from some scents. I actually originally started using an air purifier when I use to have 7 guinea pigs and anyone who has ever owned them knows how smelly they could be. The air purifier helped with the smell big time (Unfortunately I do not have 7 guinea pigs anymore). You will find that the air purifier collects dust, but honestly I'd rather have it in one little area than the entire room.

My review on the Shark APEX DuoClean so far:

What I like about it:
-Powered lift away, with the ability to operate as a upright and a canister vacuum. This will make getting under furniture a lot easier and will result in me not having to move things around as much.
-Slightly bigger canister than my former Shark, but not a whole lot. The extra space will cut back on a little time from emptying it.
-3 filters, one being HEPA which means it doesn't throw back dust or debris in the air.
-LED lights on the handle and at the bottom. Perfect for seeing under furniture when vacuuming or in a dim room.
-The pet power brush tool, getting dog hairs off furniture and carpets is going to be a lot better than using an upholstery attachment which I was using before. I cannot wait to put it to the test!
-All the controls are at the top of the handle for my convenience, no more bending down to flip a switch. -Super powerful, can vacuum up whole fruit loops in one go. My former vacuum I had to use the hose to pick up things like fruit loops as it would just push them around.
-Longer cord

What I dislike about it:
-Not as tall as I imagined and the canister is smaller than how it really looks.
-Plastic pole rather than metal. You'd think they'd use metal to make it more durable.
-Only 3 suction strength options by changing the floor settings. What I like on my current vacuum is that it is manual so I get more control that way my vacuum doesn't eat up throw rugs and whatnot.
-Advertised to be much quieter than other Shark vacuums, it is actually much louder than the one I have. Kind of hurts my ears at first but that also shows how powerful it is.
-It came with 3 attachments but only 2 spots to hold them

Overall, I am super happy with this new vacuum and can't wait to start using it in clients homes! Would 100% recommend to anyone who is looking for a powerful vacuum!

Have a ceramic stove top that now has circles and residue stuck on it that will not come off just by wiping? It sounds dangerous but use razor blades! I purchased these recently which are much safer than the metal ones and less likely to scratch. What I did was get some bar keepers friend cleaner, spread it around the stove and hold the razor at roughly a 60 degree angle and use it to scrape off the residue. I would allow the cleaner to sit for a few minutes to loosen up the residue to make scraping easier. By using this method I had managed to get a clients stove looking brand new again!

I purchased these plastic razors off amazon for only 15.99, it comes with 100 blades, here is the link: https://www.amazon.ca/Plastic-Scraper-Sticker-Remover-Application/dp/B082G85V1K/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=plastic+razor+blades&qid=1618684262&sr=8-1
