Most of our work happens at night, in empty buildings. Nobody from the building is there to see it done, and nobody is there to correct it.

That’s shaped how we hire. We learned that process is the easy part to teach. What’s harder is whether someone notices the smudged glass on the way out the door, or tells us when something got missed instead of hoping it slides by.

So we look for ownership, honesty, and the habit of noticing first. A slightly slower crew member who catches everything is worth more to a building than a fast one who never looks back.

When no one is supervising the work, the person doing it has to carry the standard. We try to find people who already do.

Between tenants, contractors, and owners, a cleaning request to us is one of a dozen things on their list. Most of the time, what helps is a short reply: got it, it’s handled, here’s when it will be done. The details can come after.

“Handled” is a word we take seriously, and we only say it when we mean it.

Property managers have been sharing how much they enjoy working closely with their tenants and seeing, face to face, that they’ve made someone’s day easier. It stuck with us, because we feel the same.

Our work happens overnight, so by the time everyone arrives, the office is clean, calm, and ready for the day. Tenants notice, and when we check in with property managers, it’s good to see that we’ve made their busy days a little easier.

It’s one of the reasons working with Kingston property managers feels like being on the same side.

Some of the most useful things we learn about a building happen on the walk back to the lobby.

A property manager mentions a tenant who keeps asking about the washrooms, a lease event next month, a door that’s been sticking for weeks. None of it is on the checklist, and all of it changes how we do the work.

We'd rather a property manager felt comfortable raising something with us than feel like they have to track us down to do it. That goes both ways — when we notice something worth mentioning, we bring it to you the same way.
