Very challenging site conditions on this one with limited space to work with, well setbacks limitations and a high seasonal ground water level at only 45 cms below grade. A type 2 pressurized system using Eljen GSF modules on top of a sand mound was selected for this design to address these limitations. When soils are not suitable, there's a lack of required soil depth, or a seasonal high water table close to grade, systems need to be built above ground in order to properly treat wastewater. These systems are more costly and we try to avoid them if at all possible, but sometimes it's the only option as it was here.

This is a prime example of when we would use concrete septic tanks. High ground water presents an issue for polyethylene tanks that are less dense than water. Even when buried, they have a tendency to pop out of the ground if the water table rises high enough. Think of a boat and how it floats. It may be ok while it's full but when it's pumped out as a service every 3 to 5 years, suddenly it's sitting on your front lawn! Depending on your site conditions and your water table, it may be best you have your tank pumped out in the fall when the ground water is at its lowest.
