I had a good time giving out treats yesterday at the Valley Drive-In's trick or treating event, but my favorite part was the popcorn 🍿 😋

One thing I’ve learned as a business owner: cancellation policies aren’t there to be mean. They’re there because our time matters too and I wish I had put one in place years ago.

Tonight I’m transitioning my trunk from full mom mode back into cleaning mode for tomorrow. Supplies packed, car reset, schedule planned.

Now imagine doing all of that… only to get a message at 10 PM saying, “Never mind, we decided to clean it ourselves.” or whatever the thoughtless reason.

It’s frustrating when it happens to me, but it bothers me even MORE when I have to turn around and tell one of my technicians, “Hey, that job you were counting on tomorrow just canceled.”

They’ve arranged their schedule, possibly childcare, packed their supplies, loaded their vehicle, counted on the income, and reserved that time for your home.

This actually happened to us recently. I had squeezed the client in last minute and, because of that, failed to go over our cancellation policy beforehand. Lesson learned on my end. 😅 But it was also the perfect reminder of why cancellation policies exist.

That appointment may just be a change of plans for you, but for someone else, it was part of their paycheck. ❤️
