The autobody industry can be challenging to crack into, but one Okanagan company - Kelowna's A2D Autobody - has been creating a real buzz. We recently caught up with them to find out the secret to that success.
For Dan and Rob (the owners of A2D Autobody), the key to building a solid reputation has been twofold: being diversified in what you do, and never compromising on attention to detail. Careful attention to detail is so important that it evolved into the company name—and eventually, the company brand. "A2D is an acronym for what we focus on," Dan says, filling us in on the back history of the shop's full name: Attention to Detail Autobody.
No matter what they tackle, the company name resonates like a mission statement. The team at A2D tackles everything from full auto and truck restorations to fender benders, and they pride themselves on applying a careful focus to each aspect of the job. One way they succeed is by handling each step in-house whenever possible.
According to Dan, this in-house approach allows A2D to really focus on every part of the customer's project. "We truly are a one-stop shop; as the face of the company, I can speak to the customer regarding each part of the project and exactly what steps were taken—something that means a lot to our clients." Those clients come from all over, too—not just the Okanagan. Projects have been coming to them across Canada and the USA, with customers even choosing to tow their vehicles from the BC Lower Mainland to A2D's Kelowna location.
A2D: Providing Expert Repairs, Restorations, and Paint Services for Any Project
A case in point is a recent restoration the team tackled: a ‘32 Ford car. "The project started from bare metal, and it rolled out the door insured as a quarter million dollar car show car," Dan explains. A2D Autobody tackles sandblasting, frame repair, and painting all in-house. They even cover automotive work, too—tire repairs and brake work, for example.
Being able to offer a one-stop-shop capable of tackling everything from ICBC work to incredible dream builds is only made possible by having the right team, something Dan and Rob have worked hard to create. A2D Autobody started as a 'side hustle' for the two friends, but in the years since they have carefully curated a talented team of eleven dedicated crew members.

"We have a Red Seal Mechanic, two Red Seal painters, two Red Seal body techs, and an eager support team working their way up the ranks behind them—It feels great seeing everyone working hard toward one common goal," Dan tells us.

Never compromising on attention to detail has also earned the team several accolades. An example is their crowning as the Gold Autobody Repair category winner in the 2024 Kelowna CommunityVotes Award, something that Dan says speaks directly to their satisfied customers and the community support behind the shop.
Steady growth over the past 5 years, along with the support of friends, family, and the community, has enabled A2D to outgrow its original building. Last year, the A2D team moved into a 6,600-square-foot shop at 386 Lougheed Road in Kelowna, furthering its goal of being a well-rounded, one-stop shop.
