A 2 year old goldendoodle was abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after her owner was told she could not board her flight without the proper paperwork for the dog. Instead of making other arrangements, she tied the confused pup to a baggage sizer near the JetBlue counter and walked away toward her gate. Police officers tracked her down, and she was later arrested on suspicion of animal abandonment and resisting arrest. Rescuers later gave the dog the name “Jet Blue” because she had been left behind near the JetBlue ticket counter, and the name quickly stuck as her story spread online.
What began as a heartbreaking story quickly turned into a heartwarming one. Officer Skeeter Black, one of the Las Vegas police officers who responded to the scene, officially adopted Jet Blue after already being approved through a local rescue organization to adopt a goldendoodle. The dog’s story went viral, drawing thousands of adoption applications and overwhelming support online, but rescuers felt Officer Black was the perfect match because he had been there from the very beginning. Jet Blue is now living happily with her new family, surrounded by the people who stepped in when she needed help most.
