I go so much deeper into this in this week's episode of the Behaviour Coach Podcast, including the one sensory strategy I use when I cannot remove the thing that is overwhelming my ADHD kid.

If a piece of your morning or evening has become a daily battle, it's not that the routine is failing. The routine is simply telling you it needs to change.

This week's episode of The Behaviour Coach Podcast is all about rhythms, routines, and the permission slip most ADHD parents do not realize they need.

If you have ever watched your child fall apart after a comment that seemed completely benign to you, this one is for you. 👇🏼

Rejection sensitivity is one of the most under recognized symptoms of ADHD. And it might be the one that hurts the most.

This week's episode of The Behaviour Coach Podcast unpacks what rejection sensitivity actually is, why your child is not overreacting, and the single most powerful research backed strategy for moving through it.

One of the hardest parts of parenting an ADHD child is watching them struggle socially.

Not because they don’t want connection. Usually, because they want it so deeply while also navigating impulsivity, emotional intensity, sensory overload, rejection sensitivity, and executive functioning challenges.

Friendships are not always intuitive for neurodivergent kids.

A lot of the social “mistakes” we see are actually attempts at connection:
✨ interrupting because the thought might disappear
✨ controlling play to stay regulated
✨ oversharing to feel connected
✨ talking about themselves to relate

So instead of only telling kids to “go make friends,” sometimes we need to make friendship more concrete.

One strategy I love using is a Friendship Map:
💛 close/safe friendships
🙂 kind but not close
🤔 tricky or confusing energy

It helps kids start recognizing where connection feels reciprocal, safe, and possible. And honestly? That awareness is a huge social skill. I unpack all of this more deeply in this week’s podcast episode on ADHD & Friendships 🎧 Comment "PODCAST" and I will send you a link to The Behaviour Coach Podcast.

If you are living in a cycle of meltdowns and nothing you have tried has worked, I want you to know two things👇🏼

1️⃣ You are not failing.

2️⃣ And your child is not doing this on purpose.

Meltdowns are one of the most exhausting parts of ADHD parenting because they feel unpredictable and out of control.

But they are not random. There are patterns. There are signs before they tip.

And there is a way to move through them that protects your child and protects you.

This week's podcast episode goes deep into meltdowns.

And if you want to go further, I built Meltdowns Mastery as an audio course you can listen to on the go.

It covers what is happening in the brain, how to create an escalation plan with your child, what to do and not do mid-meltdown, and how to take care of yourself after.

It is pay what you can. You choose what feels right.

If your child keeps doing the thing they know they’re not supposed to do, this is for you ⬇️

They are not being defiant. The impulse is faster than the rule. And consequences for something they didn’t choose to do just teaches them they are in trouble for being themselves.

What works is figuring out where impulsivity shows up most, picking one area, and building a plan that matches. This week’s podcast episode goes into exactly how.

One of the most supportive things you can do during the holidays is pre-communicate the hard parts.

Not just with your kids, but with extended family too.

Things like:
• opening presents in front of others
• sitting still through long meals
• waiting, transitions, or big social energy

These aren’t “behaviour problems.”
They’re predictable nervous system stress points.

Letting family know ahead of time what might be tricky and how you plan to support your child gives everyone more room to breathe.

That support might look like:
• changing how something is done
• building in breaks
• stepping out when needed
• letting things look different than they used to

The goal isn’t perfect behaviour.
It’s access to joy.

Even if that joy comes from doing things a little differently this year.

Wishing you holiday love in a season that can be both beautiful and really tricky. 💛

And now for the adults! This is the grand finale of gift guide week.

This year’s theme is all about calming the busy mind, simplifying daily life, and meeting sensory needs without adding more mental load. A mix of splurges + stocking stuffers… all ADHD-friendly, all chosen with real life in mind.

Here are some of the companies featured in this year’s guide:

Teens are my favourite age group to work with. This in-between stage, somewhere between childhood and adulthood, is such a powerful, messy, magical place. They are fiercely independent but still secretly love play. They crave help and want to do everything solo. It’s a constant tug-of-war, and I love every part of it. I seriously love it; there is nothing that gets me in my feels more than witnessing a teen surrendering to a childhood joy moment.

So I created this year’s ADHD-Friendly Teen Gift Guide with that in mind.
No “fix your ADHD” gifts. No planners or systems wrapped up as presents.
Just sensory-friendly, novelty-rich, aesthetic, actually-fun ideas that meet ADHD teens right where they are.
Cozy wear, retro tech, pocket fidgets, creative outlets, dopamine décor… it’s all in there.

And yes, the whole guide is unsponsored (just a few affiliate links, but no commitments to companies). Just things I see ADHD teens love every day in my coaching sessions and in my own home.

ADHD gifting isn’t about “more stuff.”
It’s about giving kids experiences, tools, and toys that meet their brain where it’s at, things that honour movement, sensory needs, curiosity, and the magic of hyperfocus.

This year’s ADHD-Friendly Kids Gift Guide (Ages 6+) is officially live, and it’s packed with options that are novel, supportive, and genuinely fun. No sponsorships, no gifted products, just things I see ADHD kids love every single day (some links are affiliates).
