Move-in and move-out cleans are some of the most time-consuming cleanings in the industry, and for good reason.

Unlike a regular maintenance clean, these jobs require cleaners to go far beyond surface-level tidying. Every inch of the property needs detailed attention because the home is either being prepared for new occupants or restored after someone has fully lived in the space.

Over time, dirt, grease, dust, soap scum, and buildup collect in areas most people rarely clean during day-to-day upkeep. This includes inside cupboards and drawers, behind appliances, baseboards, door frames, vents, light fixtures, window tracks, walls, and corners. Kitchens and bathrooms alone can take hours due to heavy grease, grime, hard water buildup, and sanitation requirements.

Move-out cleans are especially demanding because furniture is often removed, exposing years of hidden dust and debris underneath and behind everything. In many cases, cleaners are also dealing with pet hair, smoke residue, stains, neglected areas, or post-renovation dust that require specialized products and extra labor.

Move-in cleans are just as important. Even if a property “looks clean,” most people understandably want the reassurance that surfaces, bathrooms, kitchens, and high-touch areas have been properly sanitized before settling into their new home.

These cleans require:
• Detailed hand-wiping and disinfecting
• Multiple passes over surfaces
• Deep appliance cleaning
• Floor scrubbing and edging
• Wall spot cleaning
• Attention to areas most people overlook
• Significant physical labor and time

A proper move-in or move-out clean is not a quick job, it is a full property reset. Quality cleaners take the time to ensure the space is truly ready for its next chapter, not just visually clean at first glance.

Every spring, as temperatures rise and homes start to “wake up” again, one issue shows up almost like clockwork: gnats.
If you’re noticing small flying insects hovering around your kitchen, plants, or windows. This is completely normal for this time of year.

Gnats thrive in the exact conditions spring creates:
• Increased humidity
• Warmer indoor temperatures
• Damp soil from houseplants
• Organic buildup in drains and garbage areas

What most people don’t realize is that a gnat problem isn’t a sign of a “dirty home.” It’s usually a sign of moisture + organic material, which even well-maintained homes naturally have more of in spring.

There are a few common sources:
• Overwatered plants (the #1 culprit)
• Food residue in drains
• Garbage or compost bins
• Hidden moisture under sinks or in bathrooms

The reason they seem to appear “overnight” is because gnats reproduce quickly. Once conditions are right, populations can grow fast but the good news is they’re also very manageable when addressed properly.

What actually works:
• Letting plant soil dry out between waterings
• Cleaning and flushing drains thoroughly
• Wiping down surfaces where organic residue builds up
• Taking garbage out more frequently
• Deep cleaning overlooked areas where moisture lingers

Surface cleaning alone won’t solve it, you have to remove the environment they’re feeding and breeding in.
This is why spring cleaning (done properly) isn’t just about appearance, it’s about resetting your home and eliminating the conditions that attract pests in the first place.

If you’re dealing with gnats right now, you’re not alone! And it doesn’t mean something is wrong with your home. It just means spring has arrived.
And with the right approach, it’s a very fixable problem.

How to make a Gnat Trap:

What you need:

Small bowl or cup
Apple cider vinegar (best, but white vinegar can work)
Dish soap
Plastic wrap (optional)
Toothpick or fork (if using plastic wrap)
Steps:

Pour about 1–2 cm (½ inch) of vinegar into the bowl.
Add 1–2 drops of dish soap. Don’t stir too much, just let it mix lightly. The soap breaks the surface tension so gnats sink instead of landing safely.
Place the bowl where gnats are most active (near plants, fruit, or drains).
Optional: Cover the top with plastic wrap and poke small holes in it. This makes it easier for gnats to enter but harder for them to escape.
Leave it out and replace the mixture every couple of days or when it fills up.
Why it works:
Gnats are attracted to the vinegar smell, think it’s a food source, and get trapped by the soapy liquid.
