As we enter gift giving season, please remember that gift exchange is not a contract.
Appreciating the thought, time, and love behind a gift does not mean you are permanently bound to store, display, or use the physical item.

There is so much societal pressure to find the perfect gift when what we’re really looking to say is - I thought of you, or you’re important to me. That can be demonstrated with a consumable gift, or time spent together.

If you’re overwhelmed with the stuff in your home, consider having an honest conversation with loved ones about what would better suit you and your family.

Drop and Swap starts today! Bring your clean, gently used clothing down to the pavilion October 14-16, between 10 and 6pm.

Clear out your closet and give clothing a second life at Drop & Swap. Drop off clean, gently used clothing October 14 to 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, then return Saturday, October 17 from noon to 4 p.m. for the free community swap. Everyone is welcome and no donation is required to take part.

I returned back to my elderly client’s home this past weekend. Sometimes decluttering looks a bit different, not a dramatic before and after reveal, but a step forward to reclaiming your home.
As we navigated untouched boxes and set aside donations, I reflected on how much we hold on to in this life.
Things we once thought so important, now in the way of actual living.

It was a reminder that letting go and constantly curating is necessary so our “stuff” is useful and loved.

Decluttering clothes? Here’s an option to give your clothes a second chance!

Drop & Swap is one month away, so now’s the time to start setting aside the clothing you’re ready to pass along.

Take a look at your closet like you’re shopping it for someone else. What’s taking up space but never getting worn? What would you be excited to find if it showed up on a Drop & Swap rack?

Set those pieces aside and give them another life. ♻️

This past weekend I was invited to help an elderly client start her declutter journey. When our health impacts the ability to maintain our homes, the result can sometimes be unsafe and uncomfortable.
This client wants to be able to enjoy her home again, and we’re on our way to achieving that goal!
3 hours of sorting resulted in 5 garbage bags, my car full of donations, and a safer space.
A few more sessions and she’ll get her home “back”.

Gentle reminder - you didn’t accumulate all your stuff in one weekend, so please don’t set unrealistic goals of clearing it all in one weekend either.

The roller coaster of emotions experienced while decluttering can be exhausting. When you’re letting go of items that represent different versions of yourself, it can feel like you’re deleting. Framing the process as an edit, or making room for who you are now, is much kinder.
