Posting this as a reminder that small businesses and independent contractors deserve to be paid for the work they complete.

On March 23rd 2025, my company completed a post-construction cleaning job for Advantage Flooring & Renovation Inc. in Ottawa after being instructed on-site to continue cleaning until the client was satisfied. The project ended up taking significantly longer than originally discussed, totaling nearly 10 hours of work completed.

An invoice was issued afterward, with late payment terms clearly stated on the invoice. Over the past year, multiple follow-ups, invoices, emails, text messages, voicemail records, and proof of service have been provided regarding this outstanding balance.

Despite all of this, the invoice still remains unpaid a year later.

This post is simply to bring awareness to the importance of respecting subcontractors, cleaners, and small businesses who dedicate their time and labor to completing jobs professionally.
