Capps Safety recommendations for preventing "Clothes Dryer" Fires:
1) Keep surrounding area free of flammables at all times and don't place anything in dryer that is flammable or has had flammables spilled on it or used for clean up etc..
2) Clean your lint filter after every load of wash. It is also a good idea to occasionally wash the lint filter as well.

Capps Safety recommendations for preventing "Clothes Dryer" Fires:
1) Keep surrounding area free of flammables at all times and don't place anything in dryer that is flammable or has had flammables spilled on it or used for clean up etc..
2) Clean your lint filter after every load of wash. It is also a good idea to occasionally wash the lint filter as well. Recent statistics from NFPA states the vast majority of home fires resulted from dryers and the majority of those were a result of filters and venting being dirty.
3) Use only rigid or flexible metal hosing which meets the standards for this type of use.
4) Do not overload your dryer. To heavy of a load can place to much stress on the machine leading to overheating resulting in fire and/or other mechanical and costly repairs.
5) If you have a gas dryer, the lines and fittings should be checked by a Qualified Licensed Technician, at least annually when your fueled furnace is being serviced.
6) Make sure you are using the proper electrical plug and outlet. These should have been professionally installed by a qualified electrician.
7) Never leave a dryer running when you are not home or when everyone is sleeping.
😎 Check that the dryer venting outside is not blocked at least every 6 months, but especially in the winter months when snow can pile up. having the dryer venting cleaned by a professional yearly is also a good idea.
