Titled: Sanctuary in the Deep
The Meaning:
The loon is an ancient symbol of intuition, emotional depth, serenity, and quiet wisdom. Across many traditions, the loon is revered as a guide between worlds—the seen and the unseen, the conscious mind and the quiet depths of our inner feelings.
When night falls and the world grows dark, the loon retreats into the open, deep waters away from the shoreline. In the deep, predators cannot reach them; the darkness becomes a place of safety, rest, and renewal rather than fear.
This carries a gentle, profound reminder for us all: sometimes, it feels good to go deep to find protection.
When the pressures or dangers of the outer world press in, true sanctuary isn't always found on solid ground or near the surface. It is found by retreating into our own quiet depths—into prayer, reflection, intuition, and inner peace. By diving beneath the surface turbulence, we find a tranquil stillness where nothing can disturb our spirit.
Under the watchful glow of the moon, the loon rests safely on the calm waters, teaching us that leaning into our depths allows us to recharge, stay guarded against life's predators, and wake up refreshed to sing our own unique song.
