Seeing a ton of these guys around right now! 🐛
This is a Hickory Tussock Moth caterpillar, commonly seen around Ontario in late summer ( it is a native species). Around this time they start wandering away from the trees they've been feeding on looking for somewhere protected to pupate.
Look, but don't touch! Those fuzzy hairs can cause an itchy rash or skin irritation. Using tape to remove embedded hairs from skin works well.

Don’t trap and relocate wildlife!

It may seem like a quick solution, but it’s ineffective and illegal to move wildlife more than 1 kilometre in Ontario.

Here’s why:
• moving wildlife can move diseases like rabies and distemper to new areas
• vacated spaces are quickly filled by other animals when the resources such as food, water and housing remain
• relocated wildlife are often moved to another animal’s territory, leading to conflict, injury or death
• mothers may be separated from their young, who may not survive on their own

Prevention by removing attractants is far more effective!

Attention, pet owners: Distribution of oral vaccines to wildlife for raccoon and fox variants rabies is currently underway.

Come across a rabies bait while out with your pet?

These baits aren’t meant for pets. If your pet accidentally eats one, it’s generally safe but may cause some stomach issues. Contact your veterinarian if you have any concerns.

While The Pest Force Field may help reduce some mosquitoes that rest on treated surfaces, I don't offer dedicated mosquito fogging services. I prefer a more targeted approach to pest control and try to minimize impacts on beneficial insects such as fireflies and pollinators. 🐝 🦋

If you're looking for a full mosquito fogging program, I would recommend contacting a company that specializes in ongoing mosquito treatments. 🧪🦟

Remember that most other companies use Dragnet not Demand CS. Dragnet is known to be unsafe for animals.

Have cats worried about the effects of insect sprays? Studies are showing cats do not have the specific liver enzyme not being able to break down pyrethroids. Dragnet (permethrin) is considered higher risk, while Demand CS alternative (lambda-cyhalothrin) is much safer once dried.

I will be starting Force Field sprays April 27th, I will reach out to everyone very soon! Thank you
