Do you have a rubber mound? Or is your installer talking about installing one? These systems have a high failure rate! Think about it.... A septic mound is built a specific way to absorb effluent and clean it before it goes back into the ground. Does rubber absorb? Obviously not. Research your contractor and get a septic mound that's going to last! Cheaper isn't always better. Take a look at a failed rubber mound below.

When it comes to electrical and septic tanks there is a definite right way and SEVERAL wrong ways.

Electrical connections should never be in a tank in unless they are heat shrunk. Mortez and plug ins, in a tank are big no no's.... The reason being is the high risk of failure. Septic tanks have lots of humidity and methane gas given off by the bacteria in the tank working hard to break down the solids that live in your tank. Did you know that even in - 40 temperatures your septic tank is anywhere from +5 to +15 thanks to these little guys!

The correct way to wire your septic tank is in a sealed 6x6 box outside of your septic tank. This protects your wiring from the elements and prevents electrical failure.

Electrical failures can cause your pump to quit which can have repercussions such as flooded basements, frozen mounds, emergency call outs to septic services, and pump replacement all of which can be quite costly.
