Hyland Ready Mix poured the concrete for Courtenay’s new 4 m wide 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge. This bridge design is the same concept as the larger Port Man and Alex Fraser Bridges.

What makes this project especially interesting is how it’s being built:
* A modern cable-stayed design that uses materials efficiently
* No supports in the river, helping protect the surrounding environment
* A smoother, more accessible experience for users of all abilities

Projects like this are about more than infrastructure — they’re about building stronger, more connected communities. By linking downtown to parks, trails, and public spaces, this bridge will support local businesses, encourage active lifestyles, and create a lasting landmark for years to come.
