Update of more photos added. Foundation repairs and water proofing in the works. More yet to complete .We make repairs to mortar joints , let it dry . Then face parge, sponge the about grade that will be seen after its backfilled to create a nice professional finish. Next is footing tile flush , tar, membrane ,finish strips to seal the top and sides where we stop , tile , stone , filter cloth to go on top of filter cloth , then back fill.
This is the proper way the waterproof.

This this past week we corrected another cross bore of a gas main hitting a storm sewer. This is a early 1980's hit. This is second generation gas main which was orange in colour . The home had been experiencing water issues in the basement for years. The homeowner stated he had a basement company do work on the inside of the basement a few years ago. But that didn't fix the cause of the problem.
This gas main crossbore was the cause of the problems. The gas service line had also hit this storm sewer up closer the the house as well.
We have corrected this issue .

Calcium is a hard build up that forms in storm sewer from basements that are 5 feet and deeper . It gets as hard as mortar. The deeper the basement, the harder and more prevalent this calcium is.
In the past when this occured in customers storm sewers it required replacement.
We invested in the technology to remove this hard build up.
This is one of our sites recently in Chatham.
Plugged storm sewers is the number One cause of water backing up into Basements . The storm lines back up at each downspout and comes in through basement windows , or any other weak points it can enter.
98% of basement water problems are caused by backups .

Yesterday's discovery. A 3" Dia steel post through the sanitary sewer. Customer was backing up . Our techs augered this to release the blockage but felt the hard obstruction which became obvious that there was a severe problem. So they recommend the camera to inspect. They cold see this post through the sewer . Located it's exact location.
It was a steel post that a previous owner had driven into the ground for a lod deck support over 20 years ago. The amazing thing is that considering the size of this post and the amount it was obstructing this sewer line , they hadn't had continued blockages throughout the years.
It's not unusual for us to find things like this.
Wood deck posts through sewer lines.
Gas lines through sewer lines.
Fiber lines , cable , hydro lines and hydro poles and their support guide lines too.
We have corrected over 800 of these over the years in Chatham-Kent.

Not every day we pull a root mass out like this . But have pulled larger in the past . This is about 25ft long.
Maintenance is important. If you have not had your storm sewer cleaned in a long time , we would recommend it . This will cause water problems to your home.

This was heavy tree roots in a poorly made connection on a sanitary sewer that we discovered and corrected. This sewer had also had a significant belly ( low area holding water) which one of our excavation crews corrected yesterday.

This is photo of a storm sewer that was damaged by aa gas main hit. Back in the 1970's gas lines first method of being installed with our trenching was completely by pneumatic torpedo. This used a large diesel powered air compressor and a torpedo shaped steel cylinder that would vibrate under air pressure and used the air pressure to force itself under ground. They would excavate ever so far apart a trench , then drop the torpedo inground and align it with the next trench and drive it underground. Of course these could be knocked out of path if they hit large tree roots , rocks or anything unseen underground.
We discovered this yesterday on a street where we have already had 3 other properties hit in the past.
