I’ve been sitting on this post for days now.

CommunityVotes Kawarthas announced the 2026 winners on August 19th — which, of course, was the same day we unexpectedly lost our Penny. 😭

Normally I would have posted this immediately. There would have been obnoxious excitement, probably too many exclamation marks, and definitely some bragging. 😂

But that day? I just couldn’t.

And every time I’ve gone to post it since, it felt weird. Like celebrating something took away from grieving her somehow. I know it doesn’t, but grief is stupid like that.

People have been asking though, so I guess it’s time.

And I don’t even really know what to say about that.

This year has been… a lot. My health has kicked my ass and forced me to slow down whether I liked it or not. Money has been tight. Christopher is just getting started at his new job. And behind the scenes I’ve been seriously questioning what the hell I’m doing with Scrub Squad — whether I keep pushing, step back, change things, or sell it altogether.

There have been a LOT of moments this year where I’ve wondered if maybe it was time.

And then you as****es went and did this. 😭😂

Three Platinum. Two Gold. One Silver.

Scrub Squad is just this little business I started and somehow turned into this. It’s me, my family, James the vacuum 😂, a whole lot of sore body parts, some absolutely amazing clients, and a ridiculous amount of hard work.

And apparently you guys think we’re pretty damn good at it.

So thank you. Seriously.

Thank you to everyone who nominated us, voted, recommended us, hired us, shared our stuff, came back year after year, or told your neighbour/cousin/mother/best friend that you “have a cleaning lady.” 😂

I still don’t know exactly what the future of Scrub Squad looks like. But after the year we’ve had, I really fu***ng needed this reminder that the thing I built means something
