I don't really know if posting about my business actually helps my business grow.
But after 7 years, I still need to keep doing all the things I can to help parents find my business.
I recently heard from a mom who bought some new things for her little one from a major retailer. She did what you're supposed to do — washed everything before using it.
Some of it came out weirdly shaped.
Some of it had holes in the fabric.
Brand new.
Never even worn.
Essentially useless.
And here's the rub...
When a small business comes along with the specific intention of making baby products that survive not only the first wash, but the 10th, the 50th or the 100th...
Why are we still choosing mass-produced things that sometimes can't even survive wash number one?
I'm not pretending handmade is the cheapest option. It isn't.
But maybe we've gotten a little too comfortable with cheap things being disposable.
I make baby things to be used. Washed. Used again. Outgrown. Passed along.
That's the whole point.
