Sometime wasps build nests in the ground like the picture shows. Only once we killed the wasps another animal came in over night and made a meal out of the nest by digging it up.

Wasps can build a traditional hanging nest where the entire structure is visible. This is often in trees and bushes but can also be against structure such as fences, decks, and the home. These nests are treated to reduce activity, removed, and then the area is treated again with a residual insecticide. Activity is normally gone the next day. They can also enter void spaces and build a nest in the protected area. This is often above soffits or between bricks of the home. Discovered by frequent wasp activity to the area and into the hole/gap entry point.

This type of nest is very difficult to treat by home owners who often make the mistake of sealing the entry point. This is the worst thing to do as it causes the wasps to find another way out of the nest which potentially drives them deeper into the home. Sprays in this instance have little long term success, they may reduce the population for a few days but very rarely solve the problem. Proper treatment of a wasp nest in a void space is done by applying an insecticide dust into the entry point. Activity is normally gone in 2-3 days, but may take up to a week.

The term "yellow jacket" refers to a number of different species of wasps. They are extremely defensive when their nests are disturbed, so it is best to call a Barrier Pest Control professional technician to help you eliminate them. Whether the nest is visible on a branch or in a hole in a wall, we have the technology to deal with them.

Bald faced hornets are usually black with white stripes and defend their territories on mass causing multiple wasps to attack when provoked. If you see wasps going into a hole in a wall do not plug the hole it will trap the wasps in the wall and they could end up in your house. In order to treat this type of colony a chemical is injected into the hole where they are entering and they will carry it back to the colony on their wings and bodies.

As the cold weather slowly passes and we get the gift of sunshine and warmer days you may be noticing those cute little red spotted bugs around the house. Maybe you don't have those ones and instead you have these giant noisy hairy flies, less cute.

This warmer weather is bringing life back to the cluster fly, lady bug, and box elder beetles. The cat might chase them and bounce around the wall, maybe you tried to kill one and left a lovely smudge on the wall, or you are too scared to close the curtain incase the flies developed intelligence and are worried they'll now have a plan to overthrow your rule of the home.

At this point the best option is going to be an interior treatment. These pesky little guys already made it into the house the fall and have been patiently waiting, enjoying the free shelter until the outside world became livable once again. So as they wake up and bounce along the windows, we can treat the inside of the house so they aren't doing this for days and weeks.

Once the interiors been treated, great you don't have bugs flying around anymore! Didn't you have this problem last year though? The best way to stop this from happening to by treating the outside of the house in the late summer, think early September. With fewer bugs surviving their attempt at overwintering in your house than obviously you will have fewer bugs bothering you in the spring, its a win win here

Amazing what we find in our food and don't even realize it. These guys were in cereal boxes and oats coming right from the manufacuring plants to a store and then your home. Sawtooth grain beetles are easy to spot in infested foods so have a look at what you buy and make sure there are no surprises.
