I always appreciate when Southwestern Ontario homeowners take the time to share their experience.

Here’s a recent 5-star review from Desiree Jade, a Southwestern Ontario customer:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Petty Pest Control was great to work with. They responded quickly, explained the process clearly, and made everything stress-free. The service was thorough and effective, and I really appreciate how professional and friendly they were.”

Ant problems can be frustrating, especially when they keep coming back after cleaning.

Most of the work we do in Southwestern Ontario is focused on solving the problem properly so it doesn’t keep repeating.

When ant activity keeps coming back, it usually means there’s a colony nearby and a clear entry point being used.

At Petty Pest Control in Southwestern Ontario, I don’t just focus on the ants you see. I focus on where they’re coming from and why they’re staying.

I start with a full inspection to trace the trail and identify entry points around windows, doors, and the foundation.

From there, I apply targeted treatment along the active areas and at the source, not just random spots. I also address the exterior where the colony is likely located.

Sealing small gaps is part of the process as well, so new ants can’t follow the same path back inside.

Ant control works best when both the activity and the cause are handled at the same time.

Before calling anyone, I usually recommend Southwestern Ontario homeowners try a few simple things when ants start showing up.

Start with the basics. Wipe down counters using a cleaner that removes scent trails, not just crumbs. Store sugar, flour, and other dry foods in sealed containers so ants don’t have easy access.

It also helps to keep sink areas dry, especially overnight, and check around window trims and door edges for small gaps where they could be getting in. If you have pets, try not to leave food out for long periods.

These steps can help reduce what’s attracting ants and make it harder for them to settle in. They won’t always solve the problem completely, but they can slow it down and sometimes stop it early.

I went into more detail about what I found during a recent ant job here in Southwestern Ontario in this month’s journal.

May is when I start getting more calls about ants here in Southwestern Ontario.

It usually begins with a few ants near the sink or along a window, and then within a few days, it turns into a steady line showing up in the same spot every morning.

Ants don’t damage the home the way some other pests do, but they create ongoing issues. Once they find food or moisture, they keep coming back.

In Southern Ontario homes, I often see ant activity build up in kitchens, pantries, and around sinks. Small gaps around windows or trim give them easy access, and once they’re in, they follow the same trail over and over.

If you’re seeing ants regularly in the same area, it’s usually not random. It means they’ve found a reliable source and a way inside.

I went through a recent ant job in Southwestern Ontario in this month’s journal, including what caused it and how it was handled.

When ant trails keep coming back, it usually means there’s a nest nearby — either in the wall or along the foundation.

Here’s what we focus on professionally in Southwestern Ontario:
Identifying where the ants are entering
Tracing the active trail to its source
Applying targeted treatment at entry points and along the foundation
Sealing small gaps around windows, doors, and trim
Monitoring to make sure the traffic actually stops

The goal isn’t just to spray the counter. It’s to interrupt the colony and stop the trail completely.

If you’re seeing early ant activity in Southwestern Ontario, there are a few basic things I always suggest checking first.

Start with the simple stuff:
Store sugar, flour, and dry goods in sealed containers
Wipe counters with a cleaner that removes scent trails
Check window trims and door frames for small gaps
Keep sinks and surrounding areas dry
Avoid leaving pet food out overnight

These steps can slow down activity and sometimes stop minor issues from turning into bigger ones.

They won’t eliminate a full colony, but they do make your home less attractive to ants.

March is when I start getting more calls about ants around Southwestern Ontario.

At first it’s usually “just a few” on the kitchen counter or near a window. But when ants form a trail, they don’t stop on their own.

Here’s what ants typically cause:
Contaminate food and pantry items
Form steady trails across counters and floors
Get into wall voids and window frames
Keep returning even after cleaning

Rodent issues can be stressful, especially when they don’t show up on a schedule.
We do our best to be clear, on time, and thorough every visit.

When rodents keep returning, I find it’s rarely just one entry point causing the problem.

Here’s what we focus on professionally in Southwestern Ontario:

1. Full inspection of entry points, including hidden gaps
2. Identifying nesting areas in walls, attics, and basements
3. Safe removal and control methods based on activity levels
4. Sealing and exclusion to stop re-entry

Follow-up checks to make sure the problem is actually resolved

The goal isn’t just to deal with what you’re seeing — it’s to stop the reason they’re there in the first place:
