🇨🇳 Intertextile Shanghai 2026 — IDFL co-organized a session with Textile Exchange on the transition to the Materials Matter Standard (MMS), engaging with attendees and addressing technical questions around this important industry transition.

🇸🇪 Stockholm Fashion Week — IDFL Europe connected with designers, brands, buyers, and media while exploring emerging trends and strengthening industry and team connections.

🇮🇩 Indonesia— Our team visited Modinity, the head office of Buttonscarves, to finalize a business partnership for inspection services covering suppliers in Indonesia and China.

🇰🇷 Korea — IDFL Korea hosted a seminar at Preview in Seoul (P*S), discussing IDFL services, MMS, BCI, certification updates, and emerging industry trends.

🇨🇳 Digital Product Passports at Intertextile Shanghai 2026 — Tyler Bak delivered a well-received Mandarin presentation on upcoming EU DPP requirements, generating strong interest and discussion among attendees.

🇹🇷 Turkey — IDFL Turkey successfully completed a GRS audit of Classic Fashion in Jordan, covering 21 sites across multiple cities and demonstrating the team’s growing technical and regional capabilities.

🇹🇼 Taipei— Our team also took time to connect beyond the workplace through second-half team-building activities, strengthening collaboration and team spirit.

🪶 IDFB 2026 Annual Meeting: Key Trends in the Down Industry

The IDFB 2026 Annual Meeting in Sardinia, Italy, brought together industry representatives from Japan, China, Taiwan, the United States, Europe, and other regions to discuss developments in down and feather standards, testing, labeling, and markets.

🔬 Greater Testing Consistency
IDFB continues to review testing requirements for pH, oxygen number, fill power, turbidity, and dust content. Interlaboratory comparisons, audits, and training are helping improve consistency and comparability worldwide.

🏷️ Evolving Composition & Labeling
With increasingly diverse product compositions, accurate testing and labeling of down fibers, feather fibers, and mixed filling materials are becoming more important for supply chain transparency.

♻️ Recycled & Reused Down
Growing use of recycled and reused down is driving new requirements for composition, dust testing, fill power, and species identification as the industry moves toward more circular filling materials.

🌍 Looking Ahead
The 2026 meeting highlighted a clear direction: greater standardization, transparent labeling, and accurate material identification.

🌎 Global Standards 2025 Annual Report | Sustainability Standards Are Changing

Sustainability standards are evolving from simply being “labels on products” into strategic tools that help companies manage supply chains, meet regulatory requirements, and reduce risk. 🌱

🔎 GOTS 8.0
The new version was released in March 2026 and will be officially enforced on March 1, 2027.

📋 From Verification to Due Diligence
The OECD alignment assessment of GOTS 7.0 shows that most evaluation areas are fully or partially aligned with OECD due diligence recommendations.

💻 Digital Traceability × AI Technology
Global Trace Base strengthens supply chain transparency, while “Space Cotton” combines AI and satellite imagery to identify cotton-growing areas with approximately 97% accuracy.

🌍 Next Step: GRTS
The Global Responsible Textile Standard continues to advance following its first round of public consultations, with significant promotion expected by September 2026.

📢 Key Updates to GB/T 10288-2026

The revised GB/T 10288-2026 – Test Methods for Down and Feathers officially takes effect on September 1, 2026, replacing GB/T 10288-2016.

The update introduces important changes to sampling, composition analysis, species identification, fill power, cleanliness, oxygen number, and other quality testing parameters.

🔹 New: Testing methods for semi-washed down and feathers
🔹 Updated: Composition analysis, including recycled down and feathers
🔹 Enhanced: Fill power testing procedures and equipment requirements
🔹 Clarified: Cleanliness testing and result evaluation
🔹 Expanded: Requirements for oxygen number, residual fat, odor, pH, and moisture

These revisions aim to improve consistency, clarity, and traceability in down and feather quality testing.

👉 Companies are encouraged to review their testing requirements and coordinate with laboratories in advance to support a smooth transition.

What Does the Life Cycle of Polyester Tell Us About Sustainability? ♻️🌍

In June 2026, Textile Exchange published its Life Cycle Assessment for Polyester (Virgin and Recycled Production Systems) Technical Report, comparing virgin, thermomechanical recycled, and chemically recycled polyester across key global regions.

The report offers an important reminder: “recycled” does not automatically mean “low impact.”

Here are 5 key findings:

1️⃣ Impact depends on how polyester is produced
Energy sources, production pathways, transportation, and waste collection can significantly influence environmental impacts.

2️⃣ Virgin polyester is heavily impacted by fossil-based inputs
Petrochemical feedstocks such as MEG and PTA, along with energy use, are major environmental hotspots.

3️⃣ Recycled polyester has benefits—but also challenges
Thermomechanical recycling can be affected by electricity use and transportation, while chemical recycling requires significant energy and chemical inputs.

4️⃣ Collection, sorting, and traceability are critical
Scaling textile-to-textile recycling requires reliable collection, better sorting, local infrastructure, and strong supply chain traceability.

5️⃣ Sustainability goes beyond carbon
The report also highlights social risks, including working conditions, labor rights, fossil fuel extraction, and pollution-related health impacts.

IDFL Latin America made its successful first appearance at FEBRATEX in Blumenau, Brazil! Oscar Cordon, Keith Wilson, and our Brazilian colleague Adalton represented IDFL at the show, meeting with existing and potential clients, welcoming visitors to our booth, and building valuable new connections across the Brazilian textile industry.

IDFL India | INTEX Sri Lanka 2026
IDFL India participated in this three-day international textile exhibition, connecting with manufacturers, exporters, industry professionals, and potential clients. The team received a great response from visitors at the IDFL booth.

IDFL Taipei | Taichung Seminar
On August 19, IDFL Taipei hosted a seminar in Taichung, bringing together 32 industry professionals and thought leaders to discuss the development of the Materials Matter Standard (MMS), global carbon emission trends, and Digital Product Passports (DPP).
