The R3 Rodenator research program conducted by the NSW DPI Pest Vertebrate Center in Orange NSW was undertaken with funding through Parks Victoria , we needed confirmation that our R3 unit was not going to inflict suffering when used correctly to control rabbits , the scientific outcomes surprised everyone , the research results were Peer Reviewed by the CSIRO , NSW DPI in conjunction with Pest Smart developed the operating procedures and ranked the R3 as the most humane method to control [ kill ] rabbits just behind accurate head and heart shooting , warren disruption and or destruction was not our original goal , killing rabbits humanely in areas not suited for ripping was the motivation , the warren destruction is an added bonus , whilst the visual outcomes with the focus on the implosion seems to attract the most attention the real benefit is with the efficient control of the rabbits , also a benefit to combine this in an integrated approach to reinforce baiting , shooting , fumigation and ripping .

I am absolutely disgusted by the actions of this government.

Now we’re talking about a fi****ms buyback that could potentially cost taxpayers millions upon millions of dollars, buying back legally owned fi****ms from people who have already done everything required of them.

Think about that for a minute.

These fi****ms were purchased legally. Their owners were licensed, background checked, followed the rules, registered their fi****ms where required and complied with strict storage laws. Now taxpayers could be expected to foot an enormous bill to compensate those same people because the government has decided to change the rules.

And what does that achieve?

How much money will be spent buying back fi****ms from law-abiding people, administering the scheme, processing surrendered fi****ms and ultimately destroying property that was legally purchased?

That is money that could be directed towards police, tackling organised crime, illegal fi****ms, mental-health services, hospitals and genuine community-safety measures.

Licensed fi****ms owners are not the easy answer to every problem.

If these reforms are genuinely about making Australians safer, then show us the evidence that spending millions of taxpayers’ dollars taking legally owned fi****ms from compliant owners will actually achieve that.

Stop treating law-abiding fi****ms owners like criminals and stop making taxpayers pay for rushed political decisions.
