Hi all ,
So we may actually get some decent rain this weekend.

To avoid a green pool make sure to complete the following ASAP:

Remove all debris from the pool.
Empty skimmer and pump baskets.
Clean your filter thoroughly.
Do not top up pool until the rain has passed. Ensure there is adequate water in the pool for safe operation.
Test and balance your pool water daily when experiencing consistent rain.
Add algaecide to the pool water as a preventative.

If required, treat your pool with phosphate remover once the rain has passed, wait 24 hours then clean your filter.

If your pool looks like it is going to overflow:

Sand Filters - Put filter in waste mode and dump the water to a safe operational level.

Cartridge Filters - Some cartridge filter set-up's have a 3-way valve installed between the pump and filter to allow for water dumping / vacuuming to waste. Dump the water to a safe operational level.

If your system does not have a 3-way valve set-up, borrow or hire a submersible pump to reduce your water level to a safe operational level.

Hi

I have had many people ask can they clean their fibreglass pool with a pressure washer.

The short answer is no.

It is generally not recommended to pressure wash a fiberglass pool, as high pressure can easily damage or microcrack the delicate gel coat surface which is a thin layer that keeps the pool smooth and waterproof.
While some use low-pressure settings, safer alternatives for removing stains and algae include using soft-bristle brushes, non-abrasive cleaners, and chemical treatments. It could save you $$$$ in the long term.

Damage caused from pressure washing can include:

Damage to the Gelcoat: The most common consequence is damaging the gelcoat, leading to surface, which can cause the pool to lose its shine and become porous.

Microcracks and Structural Damage: Intense pressure can create microcracks (spider cracks) in the fiberglass, which may eventually lead to structural issues and, in extreme cases, leaks.

Blistering: If the gelcoat is damaged, it can lead to osmotic blistering, where water penetrates the fiberglass layers, causing unsightly bubbles on the surface.

Pinprick Holes: Overzealous or close-range pressure washing can blast tiny "pin prick" holes in the pool surface.

Discoloration: The process can cause areas of the pool to become discolored, making it appear dirty or old.
