Hi everyone,
Today I’m reaching out on a personal level to ask for support for my family during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.
My younger sister Clare, who lives in Sydney, has recently become seriously unwell and is currently in hospital undergoing extensive testing after masses were discovered on her brain. While we are still awaiting a formal diagnosis, she is experiencing severe exhaustion, muscle weakness, difficulty walking, and challenges managing everyday tasks independently.
As many of you know, living rurally means family support is not always close by. Clare has very limited support in Sydney, so our mum, who lives in Adelaide, will be travelling interstate and taking unpaid leave from work to help care for her, attend appointments, and support both Clare and her three children during this time.
The emotional impact on our family has been significant, and the financial pressure of interstate travel, accommodation, unpaid leave, and ongoing living expenses is quickly becoming overwhelming. While I’m not currently travelling interstate myself, I am doing everything I can to financially support Mum so she can remain by Clare’s side when she is needed most.
A GoFundMe has been created to help ease some of this burden and allow our family to focus on supporting Clare through the challenging weeks and months ahead.
