The owner of this rare 12-month-old Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition - just 1 of 50 delivered to Australia - reached out to us after noticing something every enthusiast dreads.

Following a routine dealership service and complimentary wash in Canberra, the once-pristine Artisan Red paintwork was left covered in heavy swirl marks and random in-depth scratches.

Judging by the damage, it appeared to have been washed with a dirty sponge or brush. We'll never know exactly what caused it but unfortunately the damage had already been done.

After a thorough wash and decontamination, we spent three days restoring the paint finish with a meticulous 3-stage paint correction. Although the MX-5 is a small car, the level of defect removal required was anything but.

The process not only removed the heavy swirl marks and random deep scratches but also eliminated countless bug stain etchings that had become embedded in the paintwork. A heavy cutting stage, intermediate polishing and final refinement were required to achieve the finish the owner expected.

Once the paintwork was perfected, we carried out our Modesta ceramic coating process, including:

✔️ Modesta BC-04 Nano-Titanium Ceramic Coating
✔️ Infrared heat lamp curing
✔️ Modesta M1 Shot final treatment

To complete the package, the beautiful tan Nappa leather interior was protected with the Modesta LPS-01/02 Leather Protection System.

This brand-new KIA K4 recently visited the workshop for long-term ceramic coating protection.

Like most new vehicles, the paintwork wasn't perfectly set up from the dealership. Even new cars can arrive with light wash marks, dealership preparation defects, contamination and a lack of gloss that prevents the paint from looking its absolute best.

New to our customer, but not quite perfect.

This Brabus Smart was recently collected from a dealership in Sydney and booked straight into our workshop for paint refinement and long-term paint protection with Modesta ceramic coating.

In fact, this is the fourth vehicle we have coated for this customer over the years.

Although the vehicle wasn't particularly old, the black paintwork had already suffered from a dealership detail. Under proper inspection lighting, the finish showed significant buffer haze and polishing marks caused by poor machine polishing technique, the wrong compound and contaminated pads.

On a black vehicle, defects like these stand out dramatically and prevent the paint from reaching its full gloss, clarity and depth.

To restore the finish, we completely re-detailed the vehicle and carried out a multi-stage machine polish before refining the paint with Modesta's dedicated coating primer. Once the finish was perfected, it was protected with Modesta BC-X ceramic coating and infrared heat lamp cured to ensure maximum performance and durability. The wheels were also coated with BC-X for easier maintenance and long-term protection.

Check out the before and after photos of a couple of the panels after a proper polishing session. The difference in gloss, clarity and reflection is exactly why paint correction is such an important step before any ceramic coating is applied.

🚨 Check Out The Transformation On This 29-Year-Old Mitsubishi Verada! 🚨

The owner thought the paintwork on this Verada looked pretty good for its age... but we could already see there was much more potential hiding underneath years of built-up contamination, oxidation and layers of old polish.

Before any polishing could begin, the surface needed to be thoroughly, decontaminated and scrubbed cleaned back to bare paint. Once the years of buildup had been removed, the true condition of the paint was revealed - dull, oxidised and covered in the usual swirl marks accumulated over nearly three decades of use.

This is the baseline we start from.

From there, we carried out a machine correction to restore clarity, gloss and colour before sealing the bare polished finish with a durable ceramic coating for long-term protection.
The owner couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the finished result.

One thing I've learnt after 25 years in this industry is that people who have never experienced a proper paint correction and ceramic coating service often underestimate what's possible. They look at faded, tired paint and immediately say, "Just respray it."

The reality is that many vehicles don't need a respray.

A skilled detailer can often restore original paintwork far beyond what most people think is possible.

And while some people compare the cost of a professional correction and ceramic coating package to the price of a cheap respray, they're not comparing apples with apples.

A $2,500 ceramic coating package, performed properly, can deliver incredible results on original factory paint.

A $2,500 respray? In most cases, that's likely to be a shortcut-filled job that creates more problems than it solves, and it still doesn't include the level of surface preparation, paint correction or ceramic coating protection that this Verada received.

This new Audi A5 was recently in for new car protection treatments.

The usual “love marks” delivered with the vehicle were addressed first, with a full machine correction using Modesta C-02 to properly level and refine the paintwork.
(Check out the last 2 photos for the “love marks”.)

From there, we applied a true dual-layer ceramic system:
Modesta P-01A coating primer, followed by Modesta BC-04 nano-titanium ceramic coating - cured under infrared heat lamps to properly activate and harden the coating.

All exterior glass was polished with cerium compound and coated with Modesta EGC.

Wheels were removed, thoroughly prepped and spray-applied with a dual-layer system of Modesta BC-06 and BC-06 Top Coat - also infrared cured for maximum durability and heat resistance.

Inside, the ivory leather was treated with Modesta’s LPS-01/02 dual-layer leather protection system.

This leather system isn’t just a conditioner - it’s designed to guard against dye transfer from jeans, helping prevent permanent staining, reduce abrasion on high-wear areas like seat bolsters, and make ongoing cleaning easier… helping to keep that new interior looking new.

This new Subaru WRX came in as a dealership demonstrator - months of sitting outside on the lot had already taken their toll.
