Ready to use!
Construction is complete on the Bonang laundry and shower addition - a huge thank you to Priestley Design & Build for bringing this one home.
A couple of minor tasks have been completed - bagging the old brick, resolving a trip hazard, and a bit of paint on the timber since these photos were taken. We are also still waiting on confirmed funds for a washer/dryer - but the plan is for a coin and card operated version - so the hall committee can cover operating costs for providing this important service.
The two showers are roomy spaces with fold down seats, a couple of hooks and warm water. As the hall is on rainwater, the showers run on timers.
The committee will prepare some signage and a donations box over coming months to help people use the facilities properly and respectfully.
Importantly, these facilities will run on the generator installed by Council during during power outages. Alongside the fridges and airconditioning in the hall - this makes the Bonang Hall a resilience centre able to service residents during emergencies. The local area faced outages of up to 9 weeks during the Black Summer Fires, with roads also closed.
Visitors can benefit from the facilities all year round - so why not plan your next camping trip to the region's incredible National Park estate, knowing you can pop out to charge up your devices and have a warm shower (and, we hope soon, wash and dry your clothes!)
