Lockdown has been the perfect opportunity to explore the take-home options from some of Sydney’s most delicious and innovative restaurants. During lockdown, I found myself yearning for the whole dining out experience- the ambience of a cosy restaurant, the tantalising smells reaching you from the kitchen, the excitement of choosing from the menu and waiting with a glass of wine and some good conversation. Elements of the experience cannot be replicated at home, but the most important ones can. Good food, good wine and good company are the essential ingredients for a memorable meal. Simply taking the time out of your day to sit across from someone you love and share something special is something we should all do more often, especially in times like these, so I’m going to share my review of some of the take home options available to you to get you through the rest of lockdown!
Kuro
Japanese food is precise, sophisticated, and complex. I had my doubts that Kuro would be able to deliver a dining experience that retained the essence of the refined Kuro experience, and yet they well and truly surpassed my expectations.
The sophistication of Kuro is obvious in the preparation of the meal. The organisation and easy to follow instructions for the final preparations showcased the care and consideration that went into every detail of each meal.
Every course was better than the last, with my personal favourite being the duck, Duck can be difficult This was a spectacular offering from Kuro, and the photos and descriptions don’t do the food justice.
Preparation is easy, presentation is awesome and the food itself is what you would expect of a chef that has spent his life in a kitchen developing some of the most unique dishes. And again, completely astounding what can be prepared at home.
