Homeowners Beware!
Now the weather is warming, Termites will start swarming in their hundreds if not thousands, usually on a hot, humid evening. The signs of an impending Termite swarm are subtle. You may see small specks of dirt appearing on plaster walls or cracks in timber components, which we call flight cuts. These changes can be a sign of Termites preparing to swarm. From now until March is Termite swarming season. If you have concerns, contact our friendly team and organise a termite inspection today!

Managing Bees is a complex issue these days. On the one hand we want to preserve our clever little pollinators, but on the other hand feral European Honeybee hives are never good. This is especially true when Hives are established in wall cavities or roof voids of residential homes. It’s important to note European Honeybees are not native Bees. Indeed, whilst excellent pollinators and honeymakers they are a menace if not managed by Beekeepers. In this Property Bees had been left to their own devices and built an impressive Hive filling the Roof and entire Wall Cavity of this Home. Our Team had to remove plaster to expose an entire wall full of honeycomb. That’s a lot of sticky honeycomb and grumpy Bees to manage.
If you suspect you have Bees established in your roof or wall give our friendly Team a call. We also keep Bees, so in some circumstances we are able to rescue feral hives.

Have a look at how Termite populations are impacted during a Baiting program. The unique Bait recipe which they feed on interferes with Termite’s life cycle. As seen In This video Early signs of a successful Treatment show ‘confused’ soldier Termites and a lack of worker Termites. The worker Termite caste does all the work in the colony including feeding everyone. When the worker Termites die the whole colony collapses. This type of Treatment is a very effective way of eliminating the immediate Termite risk from your Home. We also like Baiting treatments as we will see Visual clues of success giving us certainty. If you want to find out more please feel free to call our specialist Team, Ph: 9372 2670.
Have you ever seen Termites head banging? This is a unique way that Termite soldiers will communicate impending danger. Or maybe they are just Led Zeppelin fans? In any case it is very interesting to watch and illustrates the sophisticated colony network that Termites have evolved. This is actual footage of Termites reacting when opening a Bait Bag they are feeding on. Watch the Termite soldiers (ones with dark heads) head banging vigorously.
