Well, it happened again. It’s Easter Saturday and while driving home from the beach with the family, I received a call from a customer who owned an Air BnB. The people staying in the Air BnB had complained about seeing cockroaches 🪳 . They’d spotted 10 or more, including in the dishwasher! So, just another reminder, that unused dishwashers retain quite a bit of water around the filter and drain in their base. Cockroaches need warmth and moisture! So that water sitting there in a sealed up chamber is the perfect place for cockroaches to breed and thrive! Then they spread to the rest of your kitchen. Don’t let your dishwasher just sit there unused! Make sure you run it at least once a week. Even though its Easter long weekend, if you need help with pests… Intuitive Pest Management is open for business and can come to your aid!
2 jobs in 2 days… same problem 🪳
Both customers reported small cockroaches running across the kitchen bench at night and early morning.
After inspecting both homes, the source was the same…
👉 Unused dishwashers.
In both cases, the dishwasher hadn’t been used in a long time—and had become the perfect breeding site for German cockroaches.
Warm. Dark. Undisturbed.
Exactly what they’re looking for.
Simple rule:
👉 If you don’t use it… lose it.
(As in—get rid of it. Otherwise you’re giving cockroaches a place to breed.)
If you are keeping it:
✔ Run it at least once a week (even empty)
✔ Keep seals and edges clean
✔ Don’t leave it sitting idle for long periods
If you’re seeing cockroaches at night, there’s usually a hidden infestation nearby—and it won’t fix itself.
