How are we supposed to heal the inner child when we’re only looking after the adult in the room?

Somewhere we’ve forgotten that the arts, ritual, community.. were the original healers.
Not the analysis, not the note taking, not the “tools”, not the diagnosis.

Children don’t need to be taught wonder. They live inside it.

And that wonder? It’s not something we grow out of. It’s something we get slowly conditioned to stop paying attention to.
Awe pulls people out of the cage their mind made for them. Back into their body and back into the present moment.
Annnnd back into this radical idea that life is actually magic.
And even more radical.. that so are they.
When it comes to therapy… That’s the whole point.
To hold the torch steady enough that someone finds their way back to their power - self trust - self compassion.

When we bring creativity and whimsy back into the room, we stop being the all-knowing expert and start being beside someone.

Their inner child already knew that. We’re just finally making room for them.

Every element of the Ipsarty studio was chosen with the inner child at the center.
Designed from the ground up as a space where the whole person could walk in.. to just be. Or maybe even step into a state of curiosity.

And now I’m opening it to practitioners who believe that therapy needs to be delivered differently, and in beautiful spaces that soothe and invite wonder.

Welcome to the creative care movement..

This is where it all began.
So much of what I know now was learned here.

Holding people.
Making mistakes.
Starting over.
Learning how to lead.
Learning how to trust myself.
Learning that business is cyclical, seasonal and you must weather the winter, and compost the garden (or be the compost).. for it to grow.

At the time, I had no idea how much this season would shape me. How much of myself I needed to meet, wrestle and dance with.
I was just trying to create something honest and human and joyful.

What a gift this has been to walk through the messy, tender, stretchy parts of building something from the ground up. And now come to a place where I can share what I’ve learned and walk alongside others building their own dreams.

This garage holds so much of the woman, therapist, mother, mentor and founder I’ve become.
And even though the grief of letting go remains, gosh I’m proud of what I’ve created and everything I’ve learned along the way. It’s all prepared me for the creative mentor shoes I was always meant to step into.

It’s an ending but it’s not the end. It turns out you cannot step into the new version by holding onto the old. So after 8 years of devotion to Ipsarty as an Arts therapy practice and over 500 clients, a host of students and mentoring some incredible therapists.. I let it go. And I was flooded with grief and gratitude for everything this practice has been. Rebirth is painful but worth it- and what’s coming will be. Still a mentor, an advocate and a therapist but just a different format and wider impact. Stepping into supporting other practitioners and creative leaders and this truly magical studio.. she gets to take on a whole new adventure 🌥️🌈

Mothers in business must honour the mother first. I’ve been feeling a lot lately like I’m disappointing everyone everywhere I turn.
I think this is the part nobody really talks about honestly. Not the juggle… we’ve heard enough about the juggle. I mean the specific weight of being someone that a lot of people are counting on, and becoming a mother again at the same time, and realising those two things are not as compatible as you told yourself they would be.
I built something I was proud of. I had expectations of myself that felt reasonable before she came. And then she came, and what felt reasonable stopped being true, but the expectations stayed. Mine and everyone else’s.
I’m learning- slowly, and not always gracefully- that honouring the mother in me is not the same as letting everyone down. Even when it feels exactly like that.
If you’re in this too, I just want you to know I see it. . It’s what happens when you’re trying to be everything to everyone before you’ve figured out what you need to be to yourself first.

You’ve tried the mums groups.
You’ve tried talk therapy.
But words can’t always hold the whole experience of motherhood. The bigness of it. The shadow and the light.

FREE ONLINE ARTS THERAPY FOR SUPPORT WORKERS!!
We’re building something for support workers — but we can’t build it without you.

Ipsarty is a local expressive arts therapy studio on the Sunshine Coast. We’re creating Art of Support — a new program for support workers to professionally develop, debrief, reflect, and restore through arts therapy.

As part of his Masters placement (and his own lived experience as a support worker), our facilitator Craig is offering free 1:1 sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays online, and heavily discounted sessions of $35 in our Warana studio.

These sessions give you confidential space to unpack the realities of support work — and they give Craig the practice he needs as he prepares to launch the very first Art of Support workshop on Wednesday 22nd October.

✨ Spaces are limited. Your voice and story will help shape this program from the inside out.

Because this space is for support workers — and it can only be built with you.

The Duckett Review has confirmed the evidence:
🎨 Arts Therapy works.
🎶 Music Therapy works.

But alongside this recognition came something deeply disheartening — a recommendation to reduce our pay rates and align us with counsellors.

This undermines the years of training, registration, and responsibility we carry as allied health professionals. It ignores the evidence of our impact. And it risks driving skilled therapists out of the sector, leaving participants with fewer choices and less access to care.

This isn’t just about pay.
It’s about justice.
It’s about valuing the essential role arts therapists play in trauma recovery, disability support, and whole-person healing.

We will keep holding space with integrity, evidence, and heart. But we cannot stay silent while our profession is asked to carry more for less. And truthfully, I’m not sure what this means for us in the NDIS space going forward. This is something we will need to sit with.

👉 Speak up when you can.
👉 Stand with arts therapists — for fair recognition, for participant choice, for a sector that values the fullness of this work.

Because not all stories are told in words. And every story deserves to be heard — and funded.

Coming Soon: Creatively Nurtured

Those early days can feel like the whole world has narrowed to two people —
you and the tiny soul you now carry in your arms.

Creatively Nurtured is a space for that two-ness.
For the mother and baby as one tender constellation.
For slowing down enough to feel each other,
to breathe together,
to be seen together.

Through gentle arts therapy, sensory play, and moments of quiet holding,
we nurture both the mother and the baby —
because your wellbeing shapes theirs, and theirs shapes yours.

Before we officially launch, I’m inviting a small group of mothers and babies into our pilot round —
at a reduced price, in exchange for your honest reflections.

This is for you if you’re ready to:
✨ Feel supported while you support your baby
✨ Explore creativity and connection without pressure
✨ Rest in a space where both of you are held

🕊 Spots are limited for this pilot round.
